About the Opportunity
This broad based investment business currently seeks to appoint two highly capable Senior Investment Analysts to join their team in Sydney. The main focus will be researching and presenting on potential deal opportunities while providing support to the Senior Investment Director and stakeholders within the business. There will also be an aspect of ongoing asset management and reporting requirements of assets. Put simply, this means periodically reviewing each of the assets and assessing their respective profitability and capital returns for dissemination to key business stakeholders such as the broader leadership team
About the Role
The Senior Investment Analysts will act as key individuals within the investment team and will be heavily focussed on financial modelling, due diligence reports, and will play a key role in new investment identification.
- Financial modelling of potential resource investments in minerals/coal to review the viability and profitability
- Preparing due diligence documents and reports on potential investments
- Assisting with the financial advisory process for investment opportunities in minerals/coal
- Develop solid understanding and keep abreast of news and activity within the resources investment sector
About You
This role is suitable for candidates with 5-8 years of prior work experience gained in an investment Bank, Chartered Accounting firm (corporate finance team), Corporate Advisory, Project Finance team of a Commercial Bank or a relevant resources investment fund.
- University degree with 5-8 years relevant banking experience, likely from IB, MA, Project Finance, Leveraged Finance, etc.
- Applicants with prior exposure to mining investment experience within minerals/Coal will be highly regarded
- Well-developed Excel modelling skills with the ability to quickly assimilate technical and financial information and produce appropriate analysis with consideration of changing economic, technical, fiscal conditions over long life projects
- Ability to interrogate published financial accounts of a company and prepare a strategic review and valuation assessments
- Ability to act as a go-to person in a broader team environment
- Experience on an equities desk or in corporate finance will be highly regarded
- Degree qualified, likely in Commerce, Finance, Engineering or geology with strong academic transcripts
- Potentially working towards a post-graduate qualification such as the Chartered Financial Analyst program or MBA
