The Role:
As a Senior Investment Consultant, you will be responsible for growing the business by leading sales and consulting efforts to a portfolio of clients and prospects. You will provide first class advice and implementation on a range of investment services including setting investment objectives, strategic asset allocation, investment management structure, manager selection, plan evaluation, custodian selection, transition advice, statements of investment policy and global research services. You will also interface with retirement actuaries to deliver seamless full service investment advice and outsourcing solutions.
Performance Objectives:
Financial
- Build relationships and penetrate designated markets
- Work with sales professionals to develop and close strategic opportunities in order to meet annual revenue goals
- Identify and deliver on appropriate cross-selling opportunities where clients can benefit from a variety of the Company’s products and services
- Build relationships with internal and external sources to maximize the penetration of key target accounts
Clients
- Provide a wide range of services to DB, DC and other institutional fiduciaries and their delegates
- Lead client engagements, ensuring full and proper resourcing of the team, quality of work and timely delivery of services
- Work with senior management to develop plans for execution of large scale engagements
- Liaise closely with senior client contacts, fund managers and other areas of the firm
- Establish a trusted advisor role with clients and provide consistent, superior relationship management
- Engage specialist advice as appropriate

- Contribute to Towers Watson’s competitive advantages in the area of intellectual capital
- Provide advice on the design, implementation and monitoring of investment strategies
- Perform final high level review of work prior to delivery
- Identify opportunities in the market to develop new tools and techniques and contribute to Towers Watson’s thought leadership and research

- Demonstrate extensive leadership ability by managing, mentoring and developing associates
- Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
The Requirements:
- 15+ years’ experience in institutional investing
- Proven track record of attracting and retaining institutional investment clients
- Background influencing and servicing C-suite level contacts; demonstrated ability to understand the needs of a client and translate into action
- Thorough understanding of the global institutional investment industry, its drivers and future direction
- Insight into practical issues of investment management organizations (investment process, organizational structure and people, marketing, business management and strategy)
- The ability to initiate and adopt innovative and creative approaches to changing asset and liability issues, including an ability to understand and present asset/liability advice
- Team player comfortable in a professional services environment with the ability to effectively debate and subsequently influence people internally and externally at all levels
- Proven experience successfully managing multiple projects and teams, producing quality deliverables on time and within budget
- Undergraduate degree required. Relevant professional qualifications such as MBA and CFA preferred
