Senior Investment Manager Emerging Markets

The vacancy is within the highly competitive Emerging Markets Debt team with a primary focus on managing local currency (rates and FX) mandates.
Your main responsibilities
- Research: Primary responsibility for research and idea generation for local EMEA local markets.
- Model Portfolio Construction: Responsible for constructing the EMEA portion of global model portfolios; make country allocation and security specific relative value recommendations.
- Investment Process: Takes initiative to streamline and improve existing investment processes.
- Implementation of Investment Decisions: Point person for the execution of trades in EMEA local markets, and will be the liaison with the trading desk in The Hague.
- Find efficient ways to implement trade ideas and translate insights of the investment process into portfolios.
- Portfolio Risk Management Performance analysis: Interpret and monitor risk reports, assist lead PM in portfolio performance attribution and related reporting.
Your experience and skills
- Advanced university degree in Finance or Economics; CFA desirable. Meaningful and relevant experience of 5+ years managing assets in emerging markets fixed income and currency instruments.
- Proven track record preferable. Direct experience or focus on EMEA countries highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of cash and derivative instruments in fixed income and currency markets.

Your team and challenge
Primary responsibility for investing in local currency markets (FX and rates) and positioning EMEA in the context of global Local Currency portfolios managed by the Emerging Markets Debt (EMD) team at ING IM. The Sr. Investment Manager will have the core task of researching, analyzing and recommending positions across local markets, and will collaborate and work directly with the Lead investment manager for local markets and the regional senior investors covering countries across the EM Universe. The candidate will also have a role in maintaining and updating the investment process tools applied in local markets strategies. He/she will be involved in trading local market securities, and oversee operational aspects related to trading, as well as monitoring adherence to mandate guidelines. The Sr. Investment Manager will also be involved with client and commercial related activities when needed.
The ING EMD team is a prominent and long standing manager of fixed income assets in emerging markets, and is responsible for a multitude of global and regional funds and mandates for ING proprietary insurance accounts, third party institutional investors and retail clients. The team, which operates on a global multi-site platform with personnel located in The Hague, Singapore and Atlanta, manages portfolios in local currency and local bond strategies, as well as in external hard currency sovereign and corporate credit debt, with total dedicated assets under management in excess of USD 12bn.
