Who You Are:
As OANDA’s Senior IT Systems, you are a critical thinker and an avid problem-solver. It is essential that you have extensive experience with Solaris 10 Containers and large scale storage devices. You are able to develop solutions to the technical challenges that accompany rapid company growth. You have strong communication skills which allow you to work effectively in a group setting; however, you also enjoy working on independent projects. You are self-motivated, and are open to the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment.
In this position you will develop a strong understanding of system architecture including communication protocols, intra-system dependencies, hardware, and software configuration.
The Responsibilities:
· Participate in the design, development and monitoring of software to detect system failures and support capacity planning
· Analyze system-level stability and performance
· Identify areas of system improvement from an operations perspective
· Hardware, software and/or network troubleshooting experience
· Learning new technologies and acting as backup to other team members for these technologies as needed
· Provide support to operations staff – investigating and troubleshooting system operations and performance issues
Required:
· Extensive experience with Solaris 10 Containers a must
· Experience with large scale storage devices
· A Computer Science or Software Engineering Degree
· A minimum of 5yrs UNIX system experience (Solaris, Linux or other)
· Database experience: DB2, SQL
· Languages: Perl, Shell, BASH, C, C++
· TCP/IP, UDP, SSL and other common networking protocols
· Excellent written and oral communication.
