About the Job

Senior Java Developer, Java, J2EE, JUnit/TDD, Spring, Hibernate, BEA Weblogic 8.1 + required for UK financial market leader in Bedfordshire. The main purpose of the role is to design and develop high performance, mission critical Java applications in line with technical designs, and to deliver applications into test and production environment successfully across projects. The role is varied and will include: To work closely with the team members of the Development function in the implementation of application design of the companies payment subsystems. To work with System Analysts, Architects and Development Managers to ensure code is developed according to the agreed requirements, designs and timelines. To ensure code is developed to agreed Quality standards, Design principles, Coding Standards and Enterprise Architecture. To create and assure development designs and the development process. To ensure code is successfully unit/component tested before delivery to central test. To participate in the creation and review of technical option papers/specifications. To provide mentoring to less experienced developers. To actively participate in recruitment to supplement the development team where needed. To provide HL Technical solution and cost estimates for IT propositions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record as a Senior Java Developer within a financial or mission critical high pressured environment with strong technical skills in the following: Java, J2EE, JUnit/TDD, Spring, Hibernate, BEA Weblogic 8.1 + Eclipse, Oracle and PL/SQL, XML and associated technologies, SOA, Web services. Agile application development skills and good knowledge and experience of UML and Object-Orientated principles. In depth background in the full lifecycle of software development (inception to transition/Live). Technical experience in the implementation of mission critical resilient batch systems.
