Senior Legal Counsel
Harvey Nash is working on an exceptional In-House Legal opportunity for a leading Financial Services company based in Edinburgh. Our client is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join the business where you will focus on providing legal and regulatory advice to the insurance business. This is a senior role that will allow you exceptional exposure across the business.
The role will have a strong focus on providing SME advice in relation to legal matters across the Insurance business. This will cover contractual and distribution arrangements, partnership negotiations, contract negotiations and advising on legal risks and mitigation strategies. The role will also entail giving specific commercial advice to the business as well as recommendations and support for the regulatory risk areas of the business. You will be expected to provide SME advice on Insurance Regulation. Supporting you in your role will be a small team who you will be expected to coach and develop.
Candidates should come from a sound legal background and be able to demonstrate the commercial acumen for a challenging in-house role. You should be an experienced Solicitor and be able to demonstrate specific Insurance experience (either private practise or in-house).

- Sound understanding of the Insurance industry and its operational infrastructure
- Experience operating across senior business stakeholders
- Demonstrable commercial awareness of legalities affecting the Insurance industry.
The ideal candidate for this role will be based in Edinburgh full time. There is however flexibility for the right candidate to either work from home/out of an office based in the South of England, with regular weekly travel upto Edinburgh.
