Senior Legal Counsel – IT Banking recruitment
The jobholder provides legal support and advice to FGB Group in relation to banking queries and IT and IP issues. The jobholder should establish cooperative and supportive working relationships with members of the Legal Function. The jobholder should be able to work autonomously, but should seek the General Counsel’s impute on unusual situations, highly complex matters, and issues which may pose significant legal, financial and/or reputational risk to FGB Group.
• Provide legal advice and support on general legal matters related to banking, IT, IP and supply of services contracts.
• Provide legal advice and support to FGB bank, branches and subsidiaries (FGB Group) and in particular to the functions in charge of procurement.
• To be considered a trusted adviser to the business and provide commercial and cost-effective legal advice
• To be proactive in the provision of legal support and in updating the General Counsel and the related business group of material legal (including new legislations) or regulatory developments that may have an impact on the business and their implications.
• Assist the General Counsel prepare, disseminate, implement and manage the FGB Group policy on the management of vendors’ risk and FGB trade marks
• Draft templates of contracts with vendors
• Review IT contracts and licenses, and provide advice on IT and IP related issues from a legal perspective
• To know the operational aspects of the business he/she supports and assist in managing operational risk
• Effectively particiapte as part of the legal function
• Work closely and develop a positive professional relationship with the other members of the Legal Function and share legal knowledge and best practices with legal colleagues.
• Stay current on emerging trends in the law and regulation through continuing legal education, reading, professional conferences, and participating in professional associations.
Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer in the UK or other developed common law jursdictions.
- At least have a Bachelor Degree in Law
- Knowledge and experience of banking, corporate, IT, abd IP law concepts.
- Excellent legal drafting skills in the English language
- Ability to prioritise and work independently
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
- Strong analytical, lateral thinking and problem-solving skills
