Senior Legal Counsel; Wholesale Banking recruitment
As the successful candidate you will be required to provide primary specialist legal support for Corporate finance businesses (comprising primarily Shipping, Structured Trade Finance and MA advisory) and Syndications, which entails drafting/reviewing confidentiality agreements, engagement letters and loan documentation and ensuring legal policies and procedures are complied with. You will also provide secondary legal coverage for the Origination and Client Coverage unit, which entails handling a full range of legal work including responding to queries, drafting documents, reviewing and approving transaction documents and ensuring legal policies and procedures are complied with across a spectrum of product areas such as trade and lending.
Key experience and skills required;
- As the ideal candidate you will be a qualified lawyer trained in the UK or Singapore with significant post qualification experience in a law firm or as an in-house legal counsel with an international bank and is able to carry out the day to day responsibilities with minimal supervision. A strong general banking and finance background, with some specific ship finance experience is required.
- You will have the ability to work in a fast moving, demanding environment whilst maintaining a high quality work utilizing your sound legal knowledge, good drafting and analytical skills and attention to detail. Strong organizational capabilities and prioritizing abilities will be crucial to succeed in this role. An inquisitive approach to practices, procedures and transactions is expected.
- It is imperative that the successful candidate is resilient, a strong team player and possesses excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with and develop close working relationships with other stakeholders within the bank.
- Previous experience with Ship Finance, Ship Leasing and Asset Finance will be preferred.
