For over half a century, NERA’s economists have been creating strategies, studies, reports, expert testimony, and policy recommendations for government authorities and the world’s leading law firms and corporations.
We are currently recruiting at the senior level due to the growth and development of our European Securities and Finance practice based in London. Experts in the Securities and Finance practice apply their skills on advisory projects and litigation casework related to financial and economic issues. Areas include the valuation of securities and other assets, assessing and calculating financial damages, and econometric modeling of financial and other markets. Representative projects include assessing the suitability of investments; analysing issues of causation and calculating the quantum of damages in mis-selling claims; examining portfolio selection, fee structure, trading practices, trading strategies, and pricing practices in investment funds litigation; and carrying out lost profits analyses in the context of commercial disputes.
The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of financial markets, financial intermediaries, institutional investors, over-the-counter and exchange-traded derivatives, and other complex financial products; a demonstrated track record as an accomplished entrepreneur and business generator; proven success managing, developing and mentoring staff and prior experience working as part of a global organization.
Applicants for this position must have at least 9 years of relevant experience and hold a Masters or PhD in economics, finance or business administration ideally with a strong background in financial and econometric modeling and experience as an expert witness. Prior experience working at a consulting firm, for a government agency, in the capital markets or at an investment fund is preferred. Candidates must have a strong economics, finance and industry background and be comfortable performing quantitative analysis on complex and challenging business problems.
