Senior Manager Market Risk, Base Metals recruitment
The incumbent will ensure market risks for the precious base metals businesses are thoroughly understood, measured, analyzed and reported to senior management on a regular basis.
Main responsibilities:
- Ensure timely implementation of risk management requirements for the ongoing base metals post go-live projects. Attend weekly project meetings and coordinates with the project team to ensure risk management requirements are clearly understood and implemented.
- Report daily PL attribution reports for base metals globally as well as Precious Metals desk in London and Far East. Ensure market risks are thoroughly analysed, relevant reports prepared on a timely and accurate basis, and communicated to senior management.
- Ensure valuation is accurate and reasonable; completes daily pl attribution analysis and PL reconciliation. Monitor markets and analyse new deals to ensure consistency with trading strategy.
- Perform Independent Price Verification of market data used for portfolio valuation. Ensures continued validity of market data sources and researches possible alternates.
- Assist Director in determination of valuation reserves and annual limit review.
A successful candidate would most likely possess the following:
- Good knowledge of base metals trading preferably in LME/Comex and/or lookalike products.
- Previous work experience in trading base metals or in a related risk management role is essential.
- A background in risk management of derivatives products will be an asset.
- Strong analytical aptitude and quantitative skills are essential. Programming knowledge will be an advantage.
- Previous knowledge of Murex will be an advantage.
- A strong academic background, likely a post graduate degree in business, mathematics, statistics, engineering or economics.
- Incumbent must be a motivated self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills.
