High Risk Role
Within HSBC certain roles are designated as High Risk Roles. High Risk Roles are those where employee malpractice could lead to significant financial and/or reputational damage through internal fraud, data loss, bribery or the leaking of confidential information. For these roles, all internal and external applicants are required to undergo a range of enhanced security/background checks as part of the pre-employment vetting process.This role has been designated as a High Risk role and any candidate hired into this role would be subject to this vetting. Role Purpose:
The job holder will roll out best practice in the region for Retail Banking and WM and coordinate compliance responses on regional matters for business areas. To act as the regional champion for MENA RBWM Compliance, in terms of supporting the ACOs on all new intitiaves within RBWM,
To help ACOs analyse key regulatory matters within countries to ensure that the advice on issues is robustly analyzed against the country and Jersey regulation as well as Group standards.
The job holder will roll out consistent and harmonized Compliance best practices in the region for Retail Banking and Wealth Management in order to manage the regulatory compliance risk, especially in the Wealth management area, robustly.
The job holder will be responsible for completing the Product recertification activity conducted by MENA RBWM to ensure that all products have been reviewed in detail from a regulatory and internal compliance perspective, including from a reputational risk perspective.
The job holder will be required to work closely with the Area Compliance Officers within the MENA region as a part of the product recertification activity, to ensure that an understanding of local regulatory matters is obtained, and in order to drive the country recertifications within the tight time lines and also adhere to Group and regional compliance requirements.
The job holder will be responsible of the update on changes in the regulatory environment across MENA and help the RBWM key stakeholders assessing the impact on the business
Job holder will provide training to business on various regulations as well as Group matters.
To roll out policies across the region in the RBWM space and monitor proper implementation and control.

Principal Accountabilities
Impact on the Business

To identify and take into consideration any regulatory risks inherent in the business, in view of the changing economic and market conditions, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings and the impact of new technology while recertifying products.
Present Compliance views at business meetings and forums to ensure that there is no compromise of our reputation, or our internal requirements and risk appetite, as a part of the product recertification meetings.
To make decisions within the tight timeframes in order to meet the project’s timelines.
To ensure co-ordination and effective communication with the regional offices in order to provide a joined up view on Compliance.

Customers / Stakeholders
To ensure that all products are reviewed in the light of any regulatory requirements and certified accordingly.
To liaise with respective Business partners and Compliance contacts within the region as a part of the recertification activity.
Review the products in the light of the Business Regulatory Risks that apply to the respective business.
Manage business expectations on regional compliance matters to ensure that regulatory matters within the countries are appropriately analysed and managed.

Leadership Teamwork
To ensure that business get a seamless service from Compliance which brings together the regulatory positions across the region.
To provide necessary clarifications to business as and when these arise as a part of the recertification.
Co-ordinate any responses with the stakeholders as and when required.
Assess the products and the procedures independently in the light of the regulatory requirements, policies and procedures.

Operational Effectiveness Control
To immediately escalate to the Regional Head –Advisory or the Head of Compliance, any material breaches or potential breaches of laws, Rules and Regulations identified during the course of the recertification.
To ensure that target dates are met as and when allocated towards the various milestones of recertification.

Knowledge Experience / Qualifications
The job holder must have at least 5 years of experieince in the retial banking area, in compliance or related roles.
Experience of personal bankign services and have a strong background in subject matter expertise in respect of retail regulations and lcoal regulatory environment.
Strong communication and influencing skills with the abiltity to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
An excellent command of English.
