GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB Engineer and support the technological vision for the maintenance and development of a world class corporate data network. Facilitate the development, improvement and implementation of best practices for a nationwide data, voice, video, and remote access environment, which will result in high levels of reliability and customer satisfaction. Foster and maintain an acute awareness of the needs of multiple business units. Present and recommend technology trends and solutions for the purpose of meeting business objectives, projected growth and budgetary planning in alignment with DaVita Inc. where applicable. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Senior IT Manager, the Senior Network Engineer will be technically proficient in their area and will act as a point of reference for the team on technical issues. They will ensure effective operation, maintenance and development of the network. They will be required to be on-call and responsive to service interruptions that could lead to adverse impact and critical outages to support the business. This role will help drive and often assist in the planning, forecasting, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for the DaVita Rx network systems and in conjunction with DaVita IT when applicable (including Data Center LAN/WAN/Security/Wireless and VoIP) that are of high complexity. In conjunction with network Architect(s) they will focus on network architecture design and engineering. These duties include but are not limited to: All aspects of data communications for core business offices, pharmacies and data centers, including a cooperative work effort with business units and external vendors. An escalation point for Support Analysts for Data Systems and service provider issues. Integrates and schematically depicts communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations. Evaluates new products, performs network problem resolution and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards and interface applications. Monitors protocol compatibility, performs system tuning and makes recommendations for improvement. Adeptness at working in a fast paced environment, and coordinating multiple, ad hoc teams in order to support new business requirements and initiatives as they relate to Data Center operations and other convergence technology solutions. The timely resolution of issues complete with root cause analysis and the execution of remediation action plans for improvement. Completion of timely maintenance for the data infrastructure systems Develops and reports operational metrics to provide capacity planning and ensure hardware, circuits, and licenses are ordered and installed to meet such growth requirements. Develops business continuity and DR plans, procedures, and testing schedules in coordination with other third party service providers. Research, recommend and manage the installation of new features, functions, patches, and system enhancements in order to set technology direction. Documents network systems with network diagrams, inventory spreadsheets and other tools. Maintain a working relationship with appropriate Vendors, Service Providers and Consultants.
