Senior Occupational Health Physician

Senior Occupational Health Physician (Doctor) – Greater Manchester
Salary – Circa £85,000 (14.5 hours per week)

Hays Healthcare is proud to be exclusively working alongside the Greater Manchester Police Force (GMPF) to assist in the recruitment of a Senior Occupational Health Physician for their service.

Job Role / Key Accountabilities:

As one of the UK’s largest police forces, the GMPF and its staff are supported by The Occupational Health and Welfare unit. Part of the Human Resources Branch, their primary focus is to support managers with advice to enable them to make informed decisions regarding individual cases and to expedite the return to work of employees following accident, injury or sickness.

This support is provided via a medical team comprising of physicians, nurses, physiotherapists and welfare officers. The medical team will provide the following functions:

· Pre-employment medical
· Sickness absence
· Injury on duty
· Ill health retirement

The Occupational Health Physician will play a pivotal role in the above functions, delivering information either verbally or in a written report following the assessment of each respective case.

Person Specification:

Prospective applicants should be aware of the following before submitting their applications:

· Registered Medical Practitioner holding a medical qualification recognised by the BMA Occupational Health Committee (AFOM/MFOM)
· Hold a valid GMC registration
· Experienced in providing occupational health in the public or private sector
· A minimum of fives years post registration experience (desirable)
