Senior Operational Risk Analyst – Group Risk recruitment

This is a global financial services company and it has a variety of businesses in different world locations – companies you will have exposure to through this vacancy. This role specifically sits in the Group Risk Oversight team and the main aims are to provide a holistic understanding of the companies risk profile (financial non-financial) and inform decision making from a risk perspective to support the achievement of corporate goals.

Within this team you will be responsible for assisting in the development, maintenance and oversight of the Group’s Operational Risk Framework (including supporting business unit implementation). The function also reports periodically on all non-financial risks to the Head of Risk Oversight, the Group CRO and the Group Operational Risk Committee. Specific responsibilities include:

• Undertaking analysis and oversight of operational risk exposures.

• Managing/Implementing and enhancing the Group-wide Operational Risk system.

• Reviewing and challenging BU operational risk profiles, incidents, scenario data and capital numbers.

• Supporting the relationship management activities with the business units.

• Producing consolidated risk information, and reporting for Group Risk, the Group Operational Risk Committee, the Group Audit Committee, the Group Executive Risk Committee and Group plc Board.

• Risk Assessment and Evaluation: Support the risk oversight activities across the Group in line with the Group Risk Mandate. Manage and provide critical analysis of the Group’s and business units’ operational risk data and management information – including risk assessments, risk modelling,  scenario analysis, risk measurement output  (for economic and regulatory capital), incident data and other risk reporting.

• Communications Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain effective channels of communication to GHO, BU and external parties to enable the delivery of timely, relevant and consistent information and to support the effective operation of risk functions both in GHO and the BUs. Drive risk challenge processes with the BUs.

• Supporting the Group and business units in the development and implementation of the  Operational Risk Framework (including embedding framework, implementing policies, conducting policy reviews.

Candidate requirements:

• A financial services background is essential, including good understanding of operational risk measurement and management techniques.

• Experience of operational risk systems – preferably implementation / maintenance experience.

• Desirable to have working knowledge of Solvency II and / or Basel II.

• Ability to adapt and function in dynamic environment will be essential.

• Good team working, and senior management level stakeholder management and communication skills are essential.

• Pro-active with the ability to probe and challenge existing management processes and propose new ideas/changes.

• Influencing skills and using those skills to drive change and add value in a federated business model environment.

• Excellent project management/organisational skills, with ability to multitask and comply with preset milestones/deadlines.

• Strong analytical mindset able to quickly identify and concisely escalate issues.

• Good IT skills and competent user of Excel and PowerPoint.
