Senior Operational Risk Manager – Technology & Operations – Global Banking Giant recruitment
The Senior Operational Risk Manager will assess the technology and operations operational risk profile, maintaining alignment with risk appetite, reviewing and challenging strategy and plans in line with risk appetite to ensure alignment with operational risk capabilities and the control environment. The jobholder will be the focal point of control over operational risks that arise from end to end processes and be responsible for designing, maintaining and communicating operational risk control parameters, including control standards, risk exposure limits and other control levers in order maintain a risk profile in line with the overall risk appetite. The incumbent will review and approve risk record templates for acceptance of medium, high and very high country level risks, accept the classification and accurate reporting of operational risk events and the appropriateness of mitigation actions, challenge and constrain activities where risks are not aligned with control requirements or risk appetite and sign off on new products. The Senior Operational Risk Manager has to ascertain and confirm that country risk registers, KRI’s, KCI’s and control sample testing are effectively implemented, review and approve first line risk treatment plans, work with local business representatives to receive control and risk metrics in order to monitor KRI’s and KCI’s and review and update annual key control testing plans. The jobholder will also be required to conduct, at least annually, a stress test and scenarios programme operational risk (as part of ICAAP), review results and assess implications as well as keeping abreast of business plans, exercising focus on the implementation of robust operating environments, within risk appetite, to support business aspirations.
The successful candidate will be a degree holder with at least 10 years experience within operational risk, compliance, audit or internal control role, ideally with a primary focus on technology and operations. Applicants will need to have solid interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills as they will need to interact with stakeholders at all levels across multiple business lines. The successful candidate will also be a team player with the ability to stay firm when encountering difficult situations and be able to influence others to agree common objectives to facilitate necessary activities to achieve objectives. Depending on performance of the jobholder, this is an excellent developmental role with the possibility of becoming the Head of Operational Risk in the foreseeable future.
