Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer Job in Perth 6000
Our client is a leading global engineering and project delivery business specialising in the design, procurement and construction of mineral resources projects.
As a result of their continued growth and development, an opportunity now exists for a number of Mechanical Engineers and Senior and Principal level to join the Engineering Team. These roles will report to the Project Engineering Manager.
The role:
The main purpose of this role is to assist in developing the section’s competence of people in the application of systems and procedures. You will be required to provide input into the improvement of engineering systems, procedures and development of the client’s Intellectual Property. This role will also manage the mechanical design section for specific studies and projects to ensure that designs are in accordance with project input requirements and Company objectives in a timely and cost effective manner. You will be required work in a safe manner, complying with and actively contributing to the HSSE policies, manuals and procedures. You will at all times consider the health, safety and welfare of fellow workers, visitors, clients, community and the environment.
The key responsibilities of the role will include but are not limited to:
- Ensure the quality of specific output of the Mechanical / Piping Design section are in line with the needs of the customer and regulatory authorities.
- Provide technical and commercial direction to engineers, overview design schedules, design budgets and perform detailed review of critical aspects of projects.
- Set man-hour budgets for engineering and drafting on projects and recommend engagement of consultants as required.
- Assist engineering management to assess the suitability of staff and identify the key resources for specific projects/studies.
- Assist with professional development of engineers and lead designers by sharing of the Principal’s specific skills and knowledge. Act as mentor for less experienced engineers.
- Motivate and obtain commitment of design personnel to project QA/QC requirements, i.e. provide a fit for purpose design, on time and within budget.
To be successful you will possess:
- Minimum of 10 years mechanical design experience in the mining and minerals processing industry.
- Good verbal, written, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Capacity to delegate appropriately.
- Knowledge of specific extractive metallurgy process/chemical engineering unit operations and equipment and experience with other disciplines including plant construction, commissioning and operation.
- Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and in-house engineering programmes.
