Senior Product Development Engineers (Orthopedic) Job in San Diego, California US
A growing Company in the Tempe, Arizona area is looking for Sr. Mechanical Product Development Engineers with Orthopedic experience. We are looking for candidates nationwide willing to relocate to the Phoenix, AZ area. Once again, the position is in the Phoenix, Arizona area.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Technical:
- Take ownership of product development from beginning to end
- Perform basic level product development tasks in accordance with SOP-06 with guidance
- Identify basic design requirements and generate engineering solutions
- Conduct basic market and intellectual property research
- Produce engineering models and drawings using SolidWorks
- Perform basic engineering analyses such as stress, tolerance stack, material selection, and FMEA
- Develop and leverage a basic working knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes to apply Design for Manufacturability
- Develop and execute test protocols and publish associated reports
- Maintain Design History Files in accordance with established Company's Product Development Process
- Participate, as appropriate, in cadaver labs, surgeries, industry conferences, and other product development related activities
- Participate in design transfer activities
- Perform basic time / project management activities
Leadership:
- Participate in and/or lead project management tasks such as regular planning events, partner communications, and resource coordination
- Participate, as needed, in efforts associated with continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and other organizational capability initiatives
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (the following points outline the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position of an Engineer):
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or other related Engineering disciplines with at least 2-10+ years of relevant Product Development Design experience in orthopedic devices is required
- The position requires experience taking products from beginning to end of the Product Development Life Cycle
- Basic knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes and materials
- Working knowledge of solid modeling
- Experience with SolidWorks is preferred; but other 3D CAD Tools will be considered
- Be proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
- Basic knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, and Biomechanics is preferred, but NOT required
