SENIOR SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT – FIXED TERM recruitment
A leading banking firm have a new opportunity for an individual to join as an Senior Solutions Architect, on a fixed term contract. The successful individual will responsible for operating independently, providing deep specialist skills and knowledge to act as an internal consultant to projects and functions within Bank IT, and actively shape initiatives to drive development and implementation in areas of specialism inline with the strategy of Bank IT. Please note this role is salaried and not a day rate consultancy role.
Core Responsibilities:
- Designs and integrates specialist solutions for multiple projects/ initiatives, factoring in other aspects of the business solution and the effect of the specialist decisions on other parts of the organisation on each occasion.
- Translates and communicates complex technical/ specialist issues/ proposals and secures stakeholder buy-in for the proposal/ solutions, and acts as an internal consultant for own area of specialisation by leveraging own knowledge across multiple projects and functions.
- Conducts supplier selection, contract negotiation and selection of tools and resources to deliver a comprehensive service and/or projects.
- Challenges existing approaches/ solutions to drive continuous improvement and gains management/ client commitment to change.
- Responsible for planning, objective setting, and development of new procedures within area of responsibility, through interpretative judgement of Bank IT policies and goals.
- Accountable for performance against financial parameters, and monitors and reports on budgetary aspects within own area. Has significant input to budget setting/ financial proposals and reviews.
- Identifies, clarifies and assesses complex, abstractly defined business problems/ issues and provides alternative scenarios with minimal referral to line manager.
- Initiates change, identifying and gaining approval for opportunities for improving Bank IT services, managing the implementation of change or continuous improvement initiatives to agreed time/cost constraints (including careful consideration and management of cross-functional dependencies), and incorporating lessons learned into future planning activities.
- Manages and builds key stakeholder relationships across sphere of influence to improve the overall service provided by Bank IT.
- Ensures compliance with the Bank’s IT architectures, books of instructions, procedures and guidelines, quality standards and all regulatory and statutory requirements, and where appropriate takes action to ensure the Bank’s business is protected at all times.
- Shares own knowledge and technical expertise across organisational boundaries by consulting, advising and coaching others, and ensures others to share their knowledge, in order to build skills across Bank IT.
Core Requirements:
- Graduate level education/ equivalent.
- Likely to be a member of a professional body and/or have/ be working towards a professional business or technical qualification.
- Significant IT experience relevant to their specialist area.
- Significant experience of successfully managing third party service and technology providers and other stakeholders external to Bank IT.
- Significant knowledge of 2+ functional areas within Bank IT.
- Good working knowledge of relevant IT market.
- Highly skilled in identifying variances, assessing business risk, recommending options and implementing actions to overcome adverse trends.
