Job Description:
Responsible for developing new and supporting currently released products in the Films, Composition and CD Metrology product lines. Will work closely with other team members to resolve issues from the Field and Mfg as well as specify and drive continued development and CIP of Division product lines. This will include, but not be limited to Systems, SW, HW, Optics, processes and procedures.
Candidate will develop a complete understanding and / or ownership of the top level system specifications, system error budget, interfaces and working parameters for the optimum hardware/software integration as well as optics and optical principles.
Candidate should have a proven track record of system engineering expertise crossing all functional disciplines (optics, navigation, SW, Service).
Candidate should work effectively with the heads of Engineering and Marketing and have a proven successful track record as a senior systems design engineer with ownership of multiple subsystems or entire systems.
Candidate will have mastered Systems Engineering principles and are able to apply them to the most complex systems including
1. Own system architecture, design, and interface issues.
2. Review and approve system requirements and design documents.
3. Partition the system based on high-level system requirements to meet business needs i.e. time to market, cost, performance, and minimize risk.
4. Ensure the system will meet the system requirements.
5. Establish and maintain a complete system error budget.
6. Resolve inconsistencies between subsystems.
7. Conduct trade-off studies.
8. Identify high-risk areas and develop risk mitigation strategies.
9. Understand and ensure compatibility with all system level interfaces.
10. Write and/or approve the Interface Control Documents between key subsystems and key suppliers.
11. Influence designers and designs to include features that will optimize performance, manufacturability, maintainability, diagnostics, cycle time, COGS, quality and reliability.
12. Provide a technical roadmap to future advanced features.
13. Contribute to and work the product marketing and the division’s strategic plans to clarify the market need in terms of system requirements.
14. Sign-off on key design reviews, and is the final design decision maker along with the Engineering Program Manager.
15. Ensure a plan exists for testing, verification and validation of all system specifications.
16. Resolve system level issues for released systems.
17. Apply learning from released systems into new designs.
18. Develop and recruit other system design engineers.
19. Use and reinforce DFx and Systems Engineering principles.
20. Work with the highest levels of management to ensure product success.
Qualifications/Education Desired:
Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 7 years of experience.
OR
Master's Level Degree with at least 6 years of experience.
OR
Doctorate (Academic) with at least 5 years of experience
