Senior Systems Engineer
If you are a Senior Systems Engineer with with VMware infrastructure experience, please read on!
What you need for this position:
- Deep knowledge of VMware infrastructure.
-5+ years of experience as a Windows System Administrator in an enterprise environment (200+ servers) is required
- Advanced knowledge of Windows 2008 and 2003 server is required
- Server administration experience in a Data Center is required
- Strong problem determination and resolution skills
- Working knowledge of VMWare ESX v3.5 and vSphere in a large multi-node environment
-Computer Science degree highly preferred
-On-Call support is required
What you'll be doing:
Leads cross-platform and complex design projects.
o Leads infrastructure planning efforts, including partnering with business clients to gather and define requirements and translating complex business requirements into technical requirements.
o Develops alternative solutions and makes a recommendation, taking into account multiple considerations including risks, alignment with current and future system performance specifications and cost/benefit analysis.
o Navigates plan approval through appropriate governance bodies, presents
recommendation to management and relevant committees and drives to conclusion.
o Designs new infrastructure components based upon resolution decision.
o Researches, develops and recommends new standards as appropriate. Develops process and procedure documentation for a comprehensive supporting documentation library of hardware, operating system and supporting software across platforms.
Provides cross-platform, technical leadership.
o Leads complex cross platform-related improvement projects and initiatives, including developing alternative solutions and making recommendations which mitigate risk, align with current and future system specifications, and are cost effective.
o Provides technical mentoring to teammates and Operations Engineers across multiple platforms and for very complex technical issues.
o Develops overall standards, engineering specifications and configurations for multiple platforms, coordinating with Architecture to ensure adherence to defined standards.
o Leads the execution of complex design changes on the platform, including identifying required testing and developing complex test scripts.
o Communicates platform status at an enterprise level to senior business leaders outside of IT.
Performs platform performance management.
o Analyzes platform(s) trend reports and proactively identifies issues requiring resolution.
o Collaborates with platform-specific Operations and Engineering teams to identify and evaluate complex performance and capacity solutions.
o May perform lab testing procedures and analyze the results as needed.
o Designs and implements cross-platform and very complex performance improvement features and procedures.
