Senior Technical Accountant
A leading integrated Oil and Gas business active across EP, Trading and Refining, requires a Senior Accounting Policy Advisor to join their Group segment. Working within the Group function that has oversight for developments in International Financial Reporting Standards and ensuring the business’ activities remain compliant, this position will act as both an external and internal representative of the department.
As part of a cross-segment forum the position will hold responsibility for advising leadership on accounting policy matters across global locations. In line with the seniority of this hire the it will be essential to the success of this role to co-ordinate external influencing activities relating to financial accounting and reporting matters. In addition the individual will support non-routine transactions at a group level as the business continues to pursue ambitious growth plans in emerging markets.
Due to the business’ scale and desire to co-ordinate global activities the incumbent will be involved in accounting policy training activities, the implementation of new/ amended accounting standards when required, and the review of the group’s consolidated financial statements in the annual report and quarterly stock exchange announcements.
The position is ideally suited to a Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) who has specialised in the analysis and application of International Financial Reporting Standards and common accounting practices, combined with the ability to understand and articulate complex issues that impact a commercial environment. It will also be necessary to demonstrate strong presentation, influencing and relationship building skills.
