Senior Technical Manager
BDO LLP, one of the largest global accounting firms, is looking to expand their Technical Standards Group (TSG) by taking on an experienced FS regulatory specialist. The team is wanting to increase their Banking expertise and market share, and so they want a Senior Manager to join the technical team to provide training, advice and guidance to the Financial Services department on complex accounting issues and audit related matters, including the application of ISAs (UK and Ireland), the relevant Practice Notes applicable to the financial services sector and the firm’s methodology.
Some responsibilities include:
· Ensuring our audit approaches reflect current best practice and recommendation (eg. from BoE or Europe)
· Providing a quality review role (regarding audit strategies and documentation) on in-scope audits
· Take responsibility for dealing with the provision of advice to the FS audit team on more complex audit areas.
· Produce professional written documents for director or partner review.
· Author and/or deliver technical and training literature for both internal and external use.
· Act as a mentor to team members and provide coaching with a view to assist them to achieve their personal career goals
Ideal Candidates will be ACA/ACCA qualified, with specific audit knowledge in the financial services sector. Banking specific experience is not essential but is desirable. Candidates will have excellent and proven presentation and training skills, and good working knowledge of relevant technical standards (including IFRS, UK GAAP and ISAs (UK and Ireland) is essential. You will have had experience of and the ability to provide practical guidance to audit teams ensuring the relevant facts are obtained and audit teams are challenged appropriately.
