Head Resourcing currently have an assignment for a Senior Technology Consultant with Data Centre experience to join a team of capacity planners and performance analysts in a reputable financial institute.
The team is responsible for the capacity management of platforms and services running from their UK Data Centres. The successful applicant will be regularly producing capacity plans and aid in the identification and elimination of performance problems. Working with internal and external stakeholders,you will be collaborating with project teams to ensure that change within the Data Centres environment is managed and controlled effectively.
Resonsibilities:
Build effective relationships with IT colleagues, customers, and suppliers, which enable effective partnerships to define and implement technical/testing strategies and directions, which support business needs and direction.
• Prediction of IT system resource requirements based on future Business requirements
• Identification and quantification of key business drivers for capacity on each Service.
• Application of standard Capacity Management methodologies and techniques.
• Regular production of Capacity Plans for key identified platforms and services according to published reporting schedule.
• Implementation, maintenance and use of capacity and performance data collection tools.
• Support specific project goals by providing expertise and technical assurance for key system components to support costing efforts and to ensure integrity of design.
• Participation in the design, monitoring and analysis of performance testing.
• Identification and evaluation of the products, tools, techniques and methods necessary to meet needs of the discipline.
• Deputise for team leader when required
Attributes:
Essentials:
• High professional standards, self-motivated and achievement / results focussed with extensive experience in IT and a Capacity Management or Performance Management role.
• Highly numerate and experienced in statistical analysis with excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with people within different areas/levels of the organisation.
• A technical understanding / experience of at least 3 of the following platforms/operating system: Sun Solaris, Red Hat Linux, IBM zSeries, IBM pSeries, IBM iSeries, Windows, VMware
• In-depth experience in use of BMC Software capacity/performance tools such as Performance Assurance for Servers and Performance Assurance for Mainframes or experience of similar toolsets from other vendors.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to adopt an encouraging and enabling style with emphasis on team working.
