Senior Test Engineer recruitment
The Department: Operating within the engineering division, the test department provides testing services to the company’s business divisions. Transactional data-based products across the company’s platform are developed, maintained, integrated tested.
The Position: The role is to work within a team in ensuring the company’s products are effectively efficiently tested.
The Position Holder: The position holder will work in support of the Senior Test Lead to understand test goals, risks priorities and translate them into priorities for testing.
A self-starter, the position holder should be well versed in contributing to plans, expert at test analysis design techniques and in co-ordinating test specification activities in a prioritised way - with a strong focus on coaching others plus timely delivery on improving product quality.
The position holder will assist in implementing adapting test plans schedules, will contribute ideas on testing standards processes within the testing practice.
The successful candidate will have a proven ability in defect finding – and characteristically focussed on techniques for driving out the most critical defects as early as possible.
Progress reporting to the Senior Test Lead - verbally in writing – will be a regular occurrence.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Contribution
- Collaborate with support colleagues in improving test process standards
- Coach other team members in use of test analysis and design techniques
- Translate goals targets set by leaders into prioritised test activities
- Contribute to skills assessments, undertake training as required

Product Testing
- Contribute to plans, schedules direction setting for test analysis, test design, test execution evaluation tasks - in a prioritized manner
- Show awareness of risks in prioritizing tasks assessing priorities
- Log, monitor manage defects issues found during the test process life-cycle to their satisfactory conclusion
- Contribute to test planning risk workshops
- Track report progress to test lead
- Continually look to identify new risks, escalate changes to risks issues
Documentation Escalation
- Create, maintain, configuration manage protect test-ware (scripts, data, etc)
- Always apply documentation controls to draft published artefacts – promote this discipline with others
- Escalate concerns /or important matters in a constructive manner, backed up by facts/stats
- Contribute to weekly/periodic/phase end status reports to stakeholders

Practical experience
- 4+ years of enterprise-level system test /or integration test, preferably in the investment banking sector.
- Several years focus on test analysis design to find critical defects as early as possible
- Thorough understanding of structured test process and systematic testing
- Strong prioritisation capability - of own tasks and influencing same in others when working as a team.
- Practical approach to working first on most important areas of a product - thru test analysis design as well as execution.
- Adaptive approach to changing approach or direction, if guided or when priorities shift.
- Good understanding of financial markets and participants over the last 2 years, especially in Equity Capital Markets
- Test experience gained on middle and back-office processing of Capital Markets equities products
- Practical application of black-box test techniques and awareness of white box
- Adoption of risk based approach to priority setting
