Senior UK Small / Mid Cap Equity Analyst
The Opportunity:
- This is a unique and rare opportunity to work for a asset manager with a long track record of success and a progressive culture
- Working for one of the most highly respected fund manager’s in the "City", you will be learning from one of the best, contributing ideas to funds that have a extraordinary long-term track record of success and are one of the best performing fund franchises out there, regularly being top of their peer group
- You will be contributing ideas to a number of funds, some of which are able to short-sell, and the investment approach is very fundamental / bottom-up in nature, with an average investment horizon of circa 12 - 18mths
- The focus of the funds are on the UK small / mid cap equity universe (circa £250m - £1.5bn), and the investment approach is very pragmatic in nature (both growth value), with analysts required to be inquisitive and forensic in nature, looking for an interesting "story" on a company born out of the pulling apart of sell-side models, challenging assumptions / consensus / forecasts etc.
- This role offers the opportunity to learn from some highly accomplished investment professionals, within a business that is going through a very interesting time in its growth faze. This is a move that will suit a career minded individual
Your Experience:
- You will have a truly exceptional record of academic achievement, with a numerate degree from a top-tier University
- It is essential that you have proven fundamental equity research experience, ideally from the buy-side although strong sell-side equity analysts may also be considered
- You will be either CFA qualified or working towards the qualification, minimum of a pass at level 2. You may also be ACA qualified
- It is likely that you will be a sector generalist, with ideally experience of analysing small / mid cap companies. Some UK equity knowledge would be advantageous
- Strong ability to assimilate analytical information and provide accurate and concise comment to the team, be confident in presenting to the fund management team and being able to form an investment based opinion
- Possess advanced numerical skills and a mind that can critically analyse financial data / investment models and make a rational and pragmatic investment decision
- Ability to work autonomously and take personal responsibility for all output
- You will possess strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
