Senior Underwriter, Architects & Engineers Job in Toronto M5G 1S7, Ontario Canada

Job Summary:

You will be responsible for the successful development and underwriting of a successful portfolio of Construction Professional Liability risks in Canada including Architects and Engineers Professional Liability.

Key tasks include actively producing business consistent with our risk appetite, building and cultivating a network of brokers and clients as well as analyzing risks within your own authority.  
Responsibilities also include assisting the team leader in developing marketing  plans, identifying, analysing and pursuing growth opportunities and managing the entire underwriting process.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree Or Equivalent
5 Or More Years Of Related Experience
FCIP

1. Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of positions of increasing responsibility.
2. Excellent communication skills.
3. In-depth knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
4. Solid knowledge of processing methods and workflow procedures, and basic knowledge of insurance underwriting and regulations for assigned territories.
5. Strong negotiation skills.
6. Ability to effectively assess risk.
7. Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing, regulations and guidelines.
8. Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.9. Ability to multi-task.
10. Must be able to function effectively in team environment.
11. PC literate.
12. Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating.
13. Demonstrates strong presentation skills and a solutions and service orientation.

Job Accountabilities:

Market Facing:
1. Proactively seeks renewal and new account opportunities
2. Completes detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities
3. Qualifies accounts to meet with Zurichs appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity
4. Makes broker/customer and on-sight calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose
5. Negotiating Terms Conditions and closes deals
6. Cross-Sells other lines of business to increase Zurich product density with the account
7. Participates in Sales Team meeting as related to assigned brokers and / or territory
8. Proactively engage in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to effective date.
9. Update required systems with details of broker / client visits and account status within specified time frame
10. Serve as key Zurich contact for assigned target accounts
