Job Summary:
Recruit, select, train, and manage employees as well as all aspects of the operation, including: addressing any operational issues that arise, resolving problems, planning the operation and its staffing, assigning, and directing work to employees.
Description of Essential Job Functions:
- Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
- Supervise all employees reporting to the service center, including coaching and administering corrective action.
- Monitor training and development of all employees.
- Plan the daily manpower needs to ensure customers' freight is delivered and picked-up timely.
- Maximize employee engagement and communicate with employees at all levels of the company
- Responsible for the clean and safe working condition of the facility and equipment
- Monitor, analyze and implement all opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies
- Provide clear and frequent communication to all employees on service center productivity and company policies and procedures
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as all company policies/procedures
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and execute action plans to improve efficiencies
- Have knowledge of and comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
- Working in a concerted effort with other supervisors and managers to provide direction, guidance and coaching to team members within a positive work environment.
- Utilize ethical business practices in dealing with customers, employees, vendors, suppliers and the community.
- Route proper documentation and procedure control for hazardous material shipments.
- Track and audit employee's hours; handle payroll issues and personnel changes.
- Recruit, interview, hire and train new employees as applicable
- Perform other duties as required
- Prompt, daily attendance at assigned work location.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
- At least two years of supervisory experience required.
- Experience with process improvement and the use of Lean and/or Six Sigma preferred.
- Prior experience in a LTL environment required.
- Must be able to travel as needed, and have a valid driver's license.
- Thorough knowledge of LTL Industry, Transportation Rules and Regulations, OSHA Laws, Hazardous Materials Regulations, NMFC and Tariff Rules, and company policies and procedures, preferred.
- Proven leadership and strong interpersonal skills
- Must be multi-task oriented and possess good organization skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), preferred
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal and visual), preferred
- Strong analytical skills
