Job Category: Sales Location: Redmond, WA, US Job ID: 786695-76836 Division: (Not Division Specific) The Shape the Future Director is responsible for motivating and persuading Government Policy makers to execute Digital Inclusion initiatives. To develop Shape the Future in the region, the BDM will develop a virtual team of Shape the Future champions who will be accountable for these initiatives. You will be responsible for business modeling and development of collaborative relationships with subsidiary leadership, Public Sector leads, OEM leadership, the Windows Client and other senior leaders in subsidiary and corporate Microsoft business teams. The BDM will work directly with subsidiary management to analyze and define the optimal partnership strategy for Shape the Future in their country. The BDM will be responsible for a defined Windows license quota for the region specific to Shape the Future initiatives. You will work on a team of highly diverse and motivated people, develop deep internal partnerships with other Business Groups and be seen as a thought leader for Shape the Future stakeholders across the company and the industry. Key Accountabilities This role requires an ability to discern true sales opportunities, identify challenges and resolutions within the sales cycle, provide solution support to local deal owners and crisply relate with senior executives across Microsoft, our partners and government customers. It is a high profile role which requires a balanced and often nuanced approach to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders. Sales Business Development - Drive the execution of successful Shape the Future wins across the region - Create significant share growth and socket expansion through the development and delivery of innovative and visible digital inclusion initiatives - Provide strategic guidance and leadership to Country managers and their respective local teams to identify and develop Shape the Future initiatives - Provide leadership to subsidiary teams in the creation of public/private alliances involving OEMs, ISVs, Resellers and other Strategic Partners (Intel, Telcos, etc) - Identify, develop and evangelize the development of regional partnership models which can be utilized for subsequent Shape the Future initiatives - Persuade internal and external senior executives to guide significant policy decisions which can affect digital inclusion in a country, region or area - Extensive Public/Private Alliance identification, development expertise - Deep understanding of governmenteducation business needs and motivations - Multi-National Partner business development expertise - Demonstrable solution selling expertise - Deep knowledge of OEM channel - Ability to manage complex business negotiations with multiple stakeholders - Strategic Planning/Influence/Leadership - Work with subsidiary leadership and Corporate business teams to ensure that Shape the Future initiatives are appropriately identified, structured and executed - Effectively create conditions of satisfaction for Microsoft teams who will deliver, support and maintain Shape the Future initiatives - Identify opportunities for Shape the Future initiatives and provide senior-level communication to advise subsidiary leadership teams on execution - Demonstrate management experience and proven competence in leadership of virtual teams across multiple business groups - Active contribution with regional Public Sector Leadership in internal leadership committees - Identification as thought leader and requested speaker at strategic government, education and related events and conferences - Press Spokesperson for Public/Private Alliances and Shape the Future. This person will add substantial credibility to Microsoft's approach to digital inclusion, recommend and influence future solution strategies, accelerate deeper customer relationships and be seen as a strategic member of the region's Public Sector Leadership team. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential Experience - Proven ability to deliver win-win-win experience with respect to Partner/Customer/Microsoft outcomes - Proven ability to manage remote employees and virtual teams - Experience in planning, budgeting and forecasting to meet identified FY targets - Background with multilateral organizations responsible for developing regional and country-level policy recommendations - Considerable experience in business development, partner management and/or account management positions in Public Sector - Proven expertise in closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals in Public Sector - Proven ability to establish high-confidence relationships at all levels - Solid experience with Licensing Programs, OEM Channel management and Education Solutions - Must be seen as a strategic advisor on technology and business solutions to influence the government's public policy goals - International experience and demonstrated ability to work across various geographical and cultural environments Business/Functional Skills - Negotiation Conflict Management: The ability to create win-win-win scenarios for Customers/Partner/Microsoft in a diverse and culturally sensitive manner - Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic focus: The ability to apply analytical skills enabling comprehension of complex technical, business, and legal issues leading to the formation and execution of successful Public/Private Alliances that drive massive share growth for Microsoft - Strong industry competence: The ability to translate Microsoft products and capabilities into Customer solutions - Planning, Organizing and Coordinating: The ability to operate as a trusted advisor with internal and external v-Team members - influencing their account plans and execution - Organizational Agility: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills Personal Attributes/Interpersonal Skills - Leadership influence on key policy makers - Exceptional cultural sensitivity and empathy - Independent, self-motivated, creative and enthusiastic in the face of ambiguity - Must be highly motivated, and be able to manage challenging tasks and resolve conflicts to collective satisfaction - A passion for Education/Public Sector and the desire to make a difference in this space Qualifications - 10+ years combined experience in selling to Public Sector or in partnership with Government and/or multilateral organizations - A solid understanding of competitive solutions and the ability to quickly gain solid understanding of Microsoft technologies, solutions, and business value - BA/BS required - Master's degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Public Policy, Sociology or Economics preferred.
