Singapore – Trade Finance Expert recruitment
Market Operations and Technology (MOT) provides technology and market operations to Macquarie's businesses.
As part of the Market Operations Division, you will work to provide expert advice and Trade Finance solutions for the Bank's physical businesses including Energy Agricultural Commodities.
The position's responsibilities will include:
- The ability to prepare export documentation as and when required.
- The ability to create documentary and standby L/C's based on discussions with various businesses and contract review.
- Provide expert advice on the construction and validity of documentary and standby L/C's.
- Review contracts and confirmation documentation.
- Ensure we are able to comply with terms and conditions on Documentary or Standby Letters of Credit.
- Review L/Cs to the contract and all documents which reference the L/C.
- Understand and ensure L/Cs comply with UCP and ISP rules when exchanging and complying documents and our responsibilities.
- Being able to clearly understand what our role in the transaction is (ie importer/exporter/issuing bank/etc) and be aware of the requirements for each role.
- Being able to check documents under L/Cs and ensure discrepant documents are raised to the appropriate business to either accept or reject.
- Understand SWIFT and be able to prepare messages accordingly.
- Provide advice on possible issues with the documents and solutions to mitigate any risk.
- Understand how documentary bills for collection operate.
- Understand how LOI's operate.
- Be in a position to understand and negotiate terms and fees with other banking institutions.
- Ensure documents/confirmations have appropriate sign-off prior to execution/payment.
- Be able to follow procedures and protocols appropriate to banking institutions.
To be successful in the role you will:
- Have a minimum of 10 years experience in trade finance (or similar) back office/banking/operations role.
- Have an excellent understanding of trade finance/shipping documentation.
- Understand the importance of controls procedures within the Banking environment.
- Enjoy working in a fast paced team environment.
- Have a high attention to detail.
- Have strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Have strong negotiation and decision making skills.
- Have strong Excel and Word skills.
- Be able to work in a methodical manner and accept accountability and ownership of tasks.
- Have good organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Have excellent communication skills, particularly as dealing with international customers is involved.
- Have the ability to work with a broad spectrum of people, including, dealers, marketers, sales persons and customers.
- Have a can do attitude.
