SITE/ DEPOT SUPERVISOR-WASTE/RECYCLING - CHESHIRE WEST/CHESTER

Location: Cheshire West/Chester - Flexibility to travel is required and accommodation/ meal allowances will be provided when travelling.

My client's Environmental Services provide long term integrated environmental services solutions to local authorities across the country. These services include recycling, waste management, street cleansing and grounds maintenance. We promote sustainable approaches to waste management and describe our approach as recycling-led rather than disposal-led.

The Job:

To provide efficient, competent, front line leadership in managing the performance of a team to deliver the best client customer service safely and efficiently. To lead by example. To undertake as directed contract improvement activities, and respond to and address urgent issues or problems that are identified within contracts. To develop and implement action plans to address issues. The main responsibilities will be:

• Supervise the operation of designated contract employees. Ensure that contractual requirements are monitored and targets are delivered. Ensure that potential problems are identified and resolved at an early stage and escalated where appropriate
• Foster good team working relationships.
• Performance manage employees, giving guidance, coach and instruction as needed and where appropriate conduct first line investigations and disciplinary meetings.
• Ensure that there is effective two-way communication within the team. Carry out briefings and conduct toolbox talks as necessary.
• Seek and support ways to improve the level of the contract and the quality of service.
• Coach and support other supervisors to increase their skills, knowledge and effectiveness
• Identify areas for contract improvement, develop and implement action plans to achieve the improvement
• Deliver training on new processes or procedures where necessary

Essential Skills:

• There will be travel involved so we require someone who is happy to do this.
• Experience within a similar industry
• Experience of identifying and addressing operational areas requiring development,
• Supervision/Management experience
• PC literate
• Full Driving licence
• Waste recycling experience is desirable although not essential
