Our client is looking for an experienced Software Developer to join their team.The role will be initially for 12 months with a strong view to extend.

You as a Software Developer will participate in the support and continuing improvement of an existing high-profile product for a very large organisation. 
 
In this role expect to be challenged on every level. You will use your excellent problem-solving skills, technical experience, and engineering nous to help ensure the continued quality of this advanced, world-class product. 
 
Key Elements to your role will include:
  

• Design, implement, and test next generation ITS software and/or test harnesses according to written specifications, requirements, and as otherwise required to further develop the system.  
• Write detailed design specifications and other documentation as required.  
• Contribute to quality systems development by participating in design and code reviews.  
• Provide systems management and support initiatives/services to maintain and enhance system availability and performance.  

 
SELECTION CRITERIA 

• Minimum of 4 years continuous and recent Java development experience.  
• Extensive experience in developing large-scale technical applications in a predominantly Java environment.  
• Experience with Database design and interfacing, and other persistence mechanisms.  
• Excellent written and oral English communications skills, including excellent technical documentation skills.  
• A proactive approach to professional development, and a willingness to seek and propose improvements to methodologies and technologies used within the project.  
• Experience with some or all of the following inter-component interfacing technologies, including, but not limited to: TCP, CORBA, JMS, RMI, SOAP, XML, HTTP, SSL, JDBC.  
• Experience with graphical user interface design and development, including the some or all of the following technologies: Eclipse UI Framework, Web application UI frameworks (GWT, Adobe Flex, etc.).  
• Ability to research and learn new technologies as required.  
• Disciplined and comprehensive approach to software development, enabling delivery of quality software to strict deadlines.
