We are seeking a highly organized team player to work as a Software Engineer at our Corporate Headquarters in Clearwater, Florida. The Software Engineer will be responsible for the development of new products and applications in the automotive aftermarket industry. This is a highly visible role in a dynamic and highly collaborative engineering team to capture a large portion of the smartphone and tablet integration market.
The position reports to the Director of Engineering.
Job Responsibilities:
· Design/develop/test embedded applications and middleware for automotive products with multimedia focus
· Producing and/or assisting in embedded hardware design including firmware development
· Design/develop/test user interfaces based on various platforms including Android, iOS and Windows
· Participating in the design, coding, and architecture of software and databases in coordination with other engineers
· Responsible for the testing of software with debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers
· Create and review product specifications and information releases for technical accuracy
· Participate in all phases of product development
· Research vehicle application information
· Configuration Management Support
Required Qualifications/Skills/Education:
· B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering; MS preferred
· Comprehensive knowledge of the C, C++/C#/Objective C, systems integration and debugging methodologies
· Proven ability to write high-quality, re-usable software within real-time project constraints
· Ability to read electrical schematics
· Experience with microcontrollers (PIC, NXP, Freescale etc.)
· Experience in all areas of software engineering, including requirements analysis, design, code creation, testing, integration and documentation.
· Must excel in a collaborative development team environment.
· Must be able to work effectively with staff and customers at all levels.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Education:
· M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
· Preferred experience with automotive bus communication protocols (CAN, LIM, UART, MOST, Flex-ray, etc.)
· Preferred experience with embedded software systems development and debug
· Preferred experience with various test equipment, including DVM, oscilloscope, Automotive Databus Analyzers (ADA) and USB protocol analyzers
· Preferred experience in writing iOS and Android apps including validation and submission process experience.
· Preferred experience in developing cloud based services
