Key Responsibilities
- Provision of legal advice/support, through a business partner model, to Certus divisions
- Provision of legal advice and support to Retail and Corporate Commercial divisions (as required)
- Draft and negotiate banking and security documentation
- Assist in managing litigation caseload
- Assist in ongoing documentation review for relevant business areas
- Research/advise on regulatory policies and regulatory code implications
- Assist in research and implementation of new legislation-driven processes/activities
- Develop and maintain strong working relationship with all areas of the organisation
- Assist in audits of external legal panel
- Assist in the management of the external legal panel, in accordance with directions and instructions of Certus
Key Skills, Experience Competencies
- Proven ability to research and advise on legal issues and draft/negotiate legal documents
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Commercial approach to problem solving
- Knowledge/proficiency in standard Microsoft Word Applications
- Commercial and residential property experience
- Transactional lending/secured lending experience
- Familiarity with Facility Letters, terms conditions, mortgage and changes
- Registration of title and security and challenges to same
- Litigation; familiarity with court procedures
- Probate, basic experience desirable
- Regulatory experience desirable
- In-House experience desirable but not essential
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to communicate at Senior level both internally and externally
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with flexible attitude towards responsibilities
- In all aspects of the role, the Solicitor will be expected to project a professional attitude, giving the highest level of service to Certus and its clients at all times
