Solution Architect
Enterprise Technology Group(ETG) at Client has expanded it’s value proposition by creating Solutions Architecture team, which is ETG’s arm to lead the end-to-end solution strategies definition for large revenue generation initiatives, and for the IT due-diligence on MA opportunities, driven by Client Corporate and/or other Business Units(BUs).
Solution Architect is a vital role and will be responsible for conceptualizing and defining an end-to-end solution architecture for large, complex and/or highly strategic initiatives. This role will also be responsible for evaluating recommending alternatives for meeting the short-term and the long-term needs of business.

Responsibilities
The Solution Architect will be responsible for driving the definition and validation of one or more aspects of the overall solution architecture (Infrastructure integration architecture, Application integration architecture, Data Integration architecture, Process/Business architecture, and/or Ops Support solution approach) for a cost-effective, scalable and robust architecture foundation. This individual will be required to:
- Partner with IT/data center teams of Corporate, Business Units, ETG and 3rd parties/partners to lead and facilitate the definition of the technical architecture foundation for a solution
- Work with other Solution Architects within the team and in other partner/BU teams, to understand the business, technical and other non-functional requirements
- Develop Infrastructure integration architecture, application integration architecture, data/data integration architecture, and/or business process architecture – for short-term and long-term solution
- Articulate, document and ‘own’ the solution architecture. Solution architecture could include defining/understanding the key business process flows, and developing corresponding system process flows all the way down to physical transaction/data flows for a solution. It could also entail defining an end-to-end Ops Support solution approach to a large bundled solution. Data/data architecture would include the data modeling (conceptual/ logical physical), and if needed definition of a Common Information Model and MDM.
- Identify key risks on the architecture options, and work with involved teams for mitigation strategy and plans
- Create architectures that are leverage-able for future re-use. Also develop or provide inputs into Reference Architectures.
- Articulate and document a data management process, and/or an application integration process as needed.
- Ensure agreement of process maps across all involved teams based on industry best practices, ROI and TCO considerations
- Provide inputs and assistance, if needed, to ETG financial analysts and Solution Consulting team for cost and effort estimates for the opportunity
- Define and maintain Checklist and Metrics, as needed, for business, infrastructure, application and data integration Architecture Definition and Validation
- Understand the IT Governance process and standards in the company, and ensure that the suggested architecture is in compliance.
- Remain available as the consultant to all the implementation project teams during the full course of the initiative – for QA on defined Solution Architecture, for review/approval of key design changes down the line, and for augmentation /enhancement of the Solution Architecture definition per any new requirements.
Skills experience requirements:
Solution Architect should have over 12 years of experience in defining enterprise and system architectures. This individual should be able to think outside of the box to identify or define elegant technical solutions to improve productivity and bring simplicity to the solution for complex business problems.
Skills and experience requirements include:
¾ Subject-Matter-Expertise on Solution Architecture definition process, methodologies and tools
¾ Ability to analyze solution requirements and define component integration architecture (at one or more levels as needed for that initiative: Application, data, Infrastructure, logical and physical connectivity, etc.) to address complex business and technology needs .
¾ Extensive understanding and in-depth experience in doing ‘integration’ solution architecture across components involved, especially for infrastructure integration and application integration, while being pretty familiar and having worked on one or more of other aspects (e.g. Data Integration, Process Integration).
¾ Ability to architect for performance improvements
¾ Fairly good knowledge of financial data models at Client or at an organization of similar size outside of Client
¾ Fairly good knowledge of IT Envs processes, ITIL framework and their relationship with functional and business processes; in-depth experience with some of these, and ability to define a suitable Ops Support Solution approach for large bundled solutions
¾ Excellent communications, consulting, and client relationship skills. He/she must be able to clearly communicate complex technical and business concepts, both to clients (internal or external) and to team members, and to negotiate change
¾ A solid background of leading architecture definition across cross-functional teams
¾ Ability to interface at various levels of Customer(BU) organization, and if needed also of the Client organization, to present solution architecture options and budget needs, and guide them to the recommended option based on industry best practices, ROI and TCO aspects
¾ Deep commitment and ability to be very responsive to the Client’s (and BU’s) business needs, constraints, and tight timelines (e.g. for an RFP), while also managing their expectations for realistic cost and timeliness for the solution architecture work
¾ Ability to balance between the ideal solution and the business/ customer needs – short-term and long-term
¾ Ability to work in a fast paced environment with the ability to adapt and change priorities as the business needs change

· Extensive understanding and in-depth experience with a variety of technologies to be able to do a sound integration solution architecture definition -–
o For Infrastructure Integration Architecture - Experience in the areas of Mainframe and Distributed platforms, networking, databases, HA/DR, security, PCI compliance, and other IT regulations. Extensive understanding and experience with a variety of infrastructure technologies:
§ Hardware Platforms (e.g., Dell PowerEdge, IBM z-Series, IBM p-Series, IBM i-Series, HP Non-Stop)
§ Operating Systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, AIX, VMware ESX, Solaris)
§ Databases (Oracle,IBM DB2, UDB, Informix,SQL Server)
§ 3rd Party Data Center Applications and Tools (e.g. HP Opsware, IBM Tivoli, CA7/CA11)
§ Weblogic, webMethods, Websphere, JBoss, Apache, Tomcat
§ WAN LAN, Security, Firewall, XML Gateway, Blade Technology, Virtualization, HA/DR
o For Application Integration and Data Integration Architecture - Experience with application architectures and standards (SOA, N-tier,.NET, Web 2.0, SDLC, RUP, J2EE, etc.). Solid understanding and experience in application integration, including SOA and Enterprise Service Framework. Solid understanding and experience in data integration solutions, including Data Acquisition, Data Cleaning, and Data transformation mapping tools. Experience with large enterprise-level CIM and MDM initiatives. Solid understanding and experience in defining Data and Application flows, mapped to Business flows.
Desired skills
- A good understanding of financial industry solutions and market trends in industry

Education requirements
Bachelor degree, or equivalent, in engineering, computer technology, and related disciplines. Master’s degree is a plus.
