Solution Architect Job in West Point
The Solution Architect is accountable for translating the high level solution architecture and requirements into an actionable detailed architecture and design aligned to enterprise standards. This role is accountable for defining the strategy for how the solution will be delivered in accordance with the architecture which achieves Client business objectives with maximum efficiency. Specific responsibilities include
- Completion of detailed solution, information and technical architecture which describes how components of the solution architecture will be developed and/or configured and integrated into the Client environment.
- Defining and taking accountability for how individual solution components developed by vendors, shared services providers, contractors interact and are integrated as part of a holistic solution.
- Oversight and/or hands on completion of software development life cycle documentation deliverables
- Conducting design reviews with solution delivery resources and providing technical guidance on how the overall solution needs to be constructed and delivered.
- Providing direction to team members on the Client technology environment and architecture directions and standards.
- Leading, coaching and directing team members including but not limited to technical analysts.
- Communicating risks and cost/benefit trade-offs of design alternatives to project / program leaders.
Required skills / experience
- At least five years experience leading design of enterprise solutions inclusive of application and physical / logical database design
- Hands on development experience with a variety of technologies including building multi-tiered applications
- Experience with a diverse set of application development, workflow management, collaboration, technologies, databases and operating systems
- Experience with designing both transactional and analytics solutions
- In depth knowledge of corporate systems development life cycle methodologies
- Knowledge of applications used in a research environment such as LIMS, electronic lab notebook applications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
- Team leadership
Desired skills / experience
- Understanding of life science RD processes
- BS or higher in chemistry / biology in addition to computer sciences
- Hands-on knowledge of configuring applications in pharma RD such as Labware LIMS, pipeline pilot, chemical structure database management systems, ORACLE development, Sharepoint
- Been involved with CMMI level 3 or higher process implementations
