Solutions Architect
Location: Reston, VA
Our client is currently seeking a Solutions Architect to join their team in Alexandria, VA (King Street Metro). Please note that the role will be based initially however in Reston, VA. The successful candidate will serve as the Solutions Architect for the project.
Job Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will provide competent leadership, and highly specialized and technical guidance to complex information architecture challenges, including but not limited to, the evaluation of technologies, including knowledge management (including content management tools, automatic categorization and clustering tools, tools for creating and managing thesauri), web site maps, content maps, page schematics, construction processes, and accessibility.
The successful candidate will provide expert advice on industry and information trends to customers in analyzing and planning their current and future IT needs and assist in developing IT vision, strategy, technological innovations and enterprise services.
The successful candidate will provide expertise in applying the enterprise architecture for business or technical activities to a specific information system or information function, ensuring consistency and correctness of system information.
The successful candidate will simultaneously plan, manage, and provide technical oversight for information architecture activities. Gather customer's business requirements, translating those requirements into cost effective information architectural strategies and frameworks; guide the implementation of these to deliver high quality results to meet or exceed customer expectations in a timely manner, with an emphasis on ease of navigation, simplicity of design for the customer as well as the development team.
The successful candidate will lead system design activities and/or review systems design to assure that applications solutions will exhibit expected levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, reusability and reliability upon deployment.
The successful candidate will communicate in formal presentation settings including medium to large sized groups of key decision makers at the executive level; tailor presentations to needs and interests of the audience. Develop white papers and articles covering technical areas.
The successful candidate will direct completion of tasks within estimated time frames and budget constraints. Schedule and assign duties to subordinates, and formulates and enforces work standards. Coordinate with the Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager to ensure problem resolution and customer satisfaction.
Required Skills:
- The candidate must have 12 or more years of experience with at least 5 years experience with Enterprise, Application Information architecture design, web services, and SOA.
- Experience working with multi-tiered, multi services application architecture.
- Experience with Web UI technologies, development platforms, SOA, Web service design, Enterprise Application Integration, Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, ETL, RDBMS, Middleware technologies, Document composition and Forms technologies, Document, Imaging and Web Content Management
- Experience working with software systems, applications and networks.
- Experience working with technical products, vendors, wide range of technologies, hardware and software products.
- Experience with the implementation of security controls to restrict user access and protect data integrity.
- Knowledgeable of current commercial standards and best practices as they apply to web/services based operating environment that builds upon the concepts of user, application, business logic data separation and search capabilities.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to communicate with customers, technical and non-technical support personnel, development teams, Management and vendors.
Desired Skills:
- Candidates with Cloud computing experience a plus
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology a plus
Education Requirements:
BS Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or Information Technology or a related discipline
Advanced degree and Certifications preferred
