JOB DESCRIPTION: Job Summary The Solutions Design and Implementation (SOLDI) Supervisor II creates and provides customized engineering, technology, finance, and supply chain solutions for UPS customers and generates non-package revenues. He/she strengthens customer relationships by enabling UPS to be a single-source provider of transportation and supply chain related needs and consulting. This position manages customer solutions projects, provides subject matter expertise, and coaches SOLDI team members and customer-facing counterparts. This position manages specialists. A primary goal of this position is to design, develop and implement solutions that help customers more efficiently distribute and transport their products. Duties include gathering data and interviewing customers to determine their needs and identify possible solutions, reviewing customer requirements, analyzing account information, and creating work orders. He/she presents recommended solutions to customers outlining final deliverables, cost justification, and added value. The SOLDI Supervisor II also provides follow-up support for deployed solutions, troubleshooting to solve problems. Another core responsibility is managing multiple projects and schedules. This involves managing project lifecycles, including scope, resources, schedule, initiation, start-up/design, building, and deployment. They develop project plans (i.e., details, milestones, and work breakdown structures) and assigning tasks to resources to ensure that the project will be completed on time and according to specifications. This individual also provides sales support by assisting in strategy and proposal development, and providing resource, time and cost requirements for pricing contracts. Other Duties Design and implement communication plans Forward project documents to stakeholders to obtain sign-off and agreement on costs and resources Identify and work with all affected groups and functions to manage project impact Follow up with resources to monitor team productivity, timelines and deliverables Research trends and best practices; develop industry knowledge and expertise Develop training materials for related groups and conduct training on customer solutions and new concepts and tools Determine employee training needs to produce continuous development plans Provide feedback and support Conduct performance evaluations and resolve individual and group performance issues Preferred Competencies Applies business knowledge of how key factors, such as industry trends, global business perspectives, and organizational structures and functions, impact business strategies and customer organizations Applies knowledge of customer business models and operating structures and offers logistic sales solutions that support the customer's strategic business objectives Applies the features and business applications of services, products and customer-facing technology offerings and solutions creatively Applies supply chain and logistics knowledge of the flow of materials, information, and finances involved in manufacturing and distributing products Assesses, identifies, measures and monitors customer or business needs in order to make decisions and take appropriate actions Coaches and develops others using career development processes and tools Designs and develops integrated solutions to business problems by determining requirements and critical elements, identifying alternatives, developing the business case, creating project designs, and ensuring the solution meets service, cost and/or quality goals Manages projects and programs including allocating people and resources, organizing logistics and implementation, monitoring progress, adapting plans, and identifying and resolving rollout issues Writes technical or specialized documents, such as legal briefings, journals, manuals, instructions, articles, handbooks, and statistical reports BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer Must be willing to travel Currently in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate yourself there Preferred to have a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Logistics/Transportation, IT/Computer Science, Business, and/or Finance Previous experience in database management, programming skills, supply chain logistics, and/or network modeling is preferred Experience using Microsoft office products or equivalent software is preferred Experience in database development and analysis is preferred Experience in data manipulation and transformation is preferred Experience in systems analysis, application programming, and application development support software packages is preferred Experience with at least two programming languages is preferred JOB OVERVIEW Company: UPS Contact: Not Available Location: Addison, IL ( Map it! ) Loading map ...
