Special Assets/ Structured and Corporate Finance Lead Specialist

SCF has primary operational responsibility for the Bank's financing of non-sovereign guaranteed investment in various sectors and for the development of domestic capital markets. The Department also promotes the development of international trade and regional integration through the implementation of a trade finance reactivation program aimed to support private sector companies in the region. 
 
The Special Assets Unit has primary responsibility for the management of non-performing and under-performing assets.
 
 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Responsible for carrying out duties related to the management of non-performing and under-performing assets within the Bank’s Structure and Corporate Finance Department. Reporting to the Unit Chief of the Special Assets Unit, this position includes responsibility for: 
 
•    Leading the supervision of a portfolio of project finance and corporate finance loans and loan guarantees including loans syndicated by the Bank to private sector lenders that are distressed;
•    Developing strategies that will result in maximum asset recovery;
•    Seeking the support of asset recovery strategies from the Chief Risk Officer and his team;
•    Leading a team responsible for the asset recovery;
•    Making presentations to and obtaining approval from Management and the Board of Directors regarding the handling of special assets;
•    Negotiating with counter-parties pursuant to the approved strategies;
•    Managing the relationships with internal and external parties engaged in the loan program;
•    Producing quarterly project review reports which include the recommendation of loan loss provisions levels;
•    Ongoing identification of management information needs and use of management information tools related to special assets supervision and recommending solutions;
•    Developing strategies for sharing lessons learned from recovery activities with the Department and other relevant parties;
•    Providing guidance or mentoring to other investment officers; and
•    Serving as Acting Unit Chief in the absence of the Unit Chief, as necessary.
 
Qualifications
 
REQUIREMENTS
 
Education: Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent.
 
Experience: A minimum 10 (ten) years of relevant special asset experience. Experience in executing project finance, structured finance, infrastructure transactions and projects in restructuring, refinancing, and liquidation situations is required.
 
Language: Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Working knowledge of Portuguese will be considered a plus.
