Rio Tinto's interests in six Australian and New Zealand plants will form a new Rio Tinto business unit, to be called Pacific Aluminium, and managed separately from the Rio Tinto Alcan product group prior to divestment. These are Gove bauxite mine and alumina refinery, Boyne Smelters and the associated Gladstone Power Station, the Bell Bay smelter, New Zealand Aluminium Smelters and Rio Tinto Alcan's interests in the Tomago Smelter.
The Human Resources (HR) team provides generalist and specialist HR support to the Pac AL corporate office and operations to support the development, implementation and alignment of the HR strategy with the business objectives. The HR team also specifically, provides business partner support to developing the organisation (e.g. structure and design, employee engagement), human capital and workforce planning, performance management, project management, and facilitating capability development.
 
The Specialist - Remuneration and Benefits is based in Brisbane on a 12 month fixed-term contract. As the successful candidate you will be recognised as a subject matter expert and provide advice to HR and business managers on employee remuneration and benefits.  You will also be responsible for redesigning, developing, implementing and administering the functional areas of the Pac Al rewards and benefit schemes and policies. This will include coordination of the salary structure and benefits, research and analysis of competitor salary rates and benefits, job evaluation and participating in the deployment of the banding/grading system. You will develop relationships across the business to meet your objectives, educate your stakeholders and play an integral part in the attraction and retention of Pac Al employees.
 
As the successful applicant, you will possess 5yrs+ experience in a related role with a relevant tertiary qualification. You will be results driven with exceptional analytical and numerical skills. Your proven ability to deliver remuneration strategies and strong networking and communication skills will be paramount to your success; as will your ability to facilitate cross-group collaboration.
