SQL Database Developer / Administrator Job in Limerick Ireland

Our Client is looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team in the Limerick region.  

As a member of the Database Operations team, you will play an important role in the following:

· Day-to-day performance and availability monitoring of production environments

· Standard database tasks such as backup and restoring databases, new installations, upgrades, patching, and configuration

· Space management and infrastructure planning

· Performance tuning including identification of poor performing queries, index optimization, and partitioning strategies

· Providing support to application developers and database engineers by reviewing and deploying scripts

· Establishing policies and procedures pertaining to database management, security, maintenance and utilization

· Advising managers on database concepts and functional capabilities

· Recommending systems changes to development management

· Recommending updates and improvements to existing systems

· Suggesting alternative solutions and designs, third party tools, etc. to solve the problems at hand

Job Specifications:

· Requires BS degree computer science or equivalent experience

· Requires 3+ years of database administration experience

Required areas of expertise:

· Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2008R2

· Experience with Clustering on Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008R2

· Advanced experience in performance tuning such as optimizing stored procedures, views, indexes, triggers, etc.

· Strong experience with SQL Server Profiler, SSMS, and Query Analyzer

· Strong knowledge of database administration, infrastructure planning, and high availability

· Experience with SQL Server or Oracle third party tools

· Experience building “scaled out” federated database architectures

· Good working knowledge of Windows

· Experience in a 24x7 environment

· Good communications, writing and editing skills needed to transfer information to individuals involved in development process

· Strong understanding of modern software technology and an ongoing effort to maintain skills and knowledge at the state of the art level

· Proven ability to work independently or in a team environment

· MCITP desirable

· Experience with Linux/AIX desirable

· Intermediate level experience with Oracle 9i/10g desirable

· Requires 8am to 4.30pm work day

· Requires participation in on-call rotation
