Sr. Analyst I, M&A Energy Research at IHS recruitment

The upstream MA Senior Research Analyst I will be responsible on a daily basis for analyzing energy upstream MA transactions and assets/companies on the market. Analysis includes both asset and corporate financial analysis and written transaction reports. Responsibilities also include fielding client requests for data and insights, and supporting team client presentations of upstream MA insights and trends.

Specific Job Duties:
• Prioritize, analyze, input into database and publish upstream sector transactions based on daily transaction flow as tracked by news department.
• Perform additional research above assigned news database stories (e.g. locate primary source materials, contact transaction parties, visit company websites, general internet research, etc.) to ascertain complete disclosure on transaction data and details.
• Coordinate with IHS company/equity, industry and technical researchers/analysts to develop further transaction insights.
• Publish written MA Alert reports to clients as warranted.
• Respond to client request for MA upstream data and transaction analysis methodology.
• Continuously develop upstream MA subject matter expertise by actively contributing to above listed activities and pursing activities/work in various disciplines and staying abreast of current/hot topics to broaden and build upon subject matter knowledge. 
 

 Required Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or industry-related fields required; graduate degree is a plus.

Required Experience:
• The ideal candidate will have 2+ years experience in the upstream energy sector as a financial or industry analyst, or comparable Wall St. experience. Ability to work in a team-focused environment required.

• Well developed research skills, reading comprehension and written/verbal/personal presentation communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
• Requires a keen attention to detail and highly effective organization and prioritization skills including the ability to stay on task and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
• Requires demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills in a deadline-oriented environment.
• Must be flexible with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all coworkers.
