Sr. Communications Consultant Oakland, CA The senior communications consultant is responsible for providing complex communications consultation, communications planning, implementation and recommended solutions for multiple Kaiser Permanente programs and projects (targeting both internal and external audiences) to meet organizational brand and reputation goals. Primary role is to provide strategic guidance and support in terms of public relations and media relations to leaders and staff within Health Plan Operations/Marketing, Sales, Service Administration, and in conjunction with leaders and staff members of the national Brand Strategy, Communications Public Relations (BSCPR) function. Essential Functions: Develop and implement comprehensive public relations plans and tactics to fulfill the strategic and operational goals and objectives of the overall communications program developed by the MSSA communications director for his/her clients to deliver, promote, and protect the organization's brand and reputation. Provide communications consulting to MSSA internal clients on external communications, especially including public/media relations. Consulting activity will vary from oral communication or advice on communications issues to providing customized plans and materials. Strategize with MSSA internal clients, marketing partners, and national/regional public relations staff; develop project plans; write creative briefs, recommendations and proposals; research and analyze information; prepare presentations (videos, podcasts, PowerPoint presentations, speeches and talking points); plan and coordinate logistics for projects and events. Develop relationships with targeted media representatives. Pitch stories and work directly with reporters and content experts to fulfill media interview requests. Provide content expertise to aid other KP national/regional staff in pitching stories to the media, responding to media inquiries, or managing sensitive and complex issues. Develop and implement strategy for establishing and building relationships with third-party stakeholders and oversee the maintenance of the stakeholder database on behalf of MSSA leadership. Represent Kaiser Permanente in partnering with national industry or business organizations to coordinate event sponsorships and executive speaking engagements, related media relations outreach, and public relations activities. Identify MSSA spokespersons and help manage and coordinate the MSSA speakers bureau. Coordinate speaking opportunities and sponsorships with MSSA executives and partners in Marketing, lines of business and other functions. Protect KP brand through proactive mitigation of risk through early identification and notification of MSSA-related issues and truthful, transparent, thoughtful communications in both proactive and reactive situations. Research and write communication materials, including press releases, executive biographies, pitches, scripts, story boards, fact sheets, backgrounders, and news and feature articles. Develop and post Twitter and other social media messages. Produce podcasts, videos, webcasts, and other media relations/public relations materials. Align and coordinate plans, strategies, materials and initiatives with national and regional public relations teams. Serve on core national public relations team/s as assigned. Ensure content of all materials is consistent with the Kaiser Permanente brand in terms of quality, tone, manner, style, and messaging. Manage and complete multiple assignments in short time frames and coordinate diverse projects and activities into a cohesive and strategic program. Requirements
