Overall responsibility to work with CSD/IS Control and Operations Managers to ensure the control environment across all areas is sound and BNY Mellon business units are meeting client needs . This position will help to prioritize and assess issues, along with coordinating our efforts for material control issues in Treasury Services Depositary Receipts business units.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

Design, establish and manage sector-wide critical indicator/issue identification and monitoring process. This includes, but is not limited to, coverage on Audit and Control assessments, Compliance reviews, KYC/Tax status, Legal issues, NPPI, SARS, Operational Losses, etc.

Partner with LOBs and sector Utilities in developing their own critical indicators and metrics (both strategic and tactical in nature). Where possible, promote consistency and comparability with our measurement tools across the sector. This includes creating and maintaining the full suite of required tax monitoring metrics for each business for proper monitoring and oversight purposes.

Manage metrics gathering process through a defined network of sector contacts. Work with sector LOBs to determine the optimal thresholds for gauging the status/severity rating for each control/risk category. To ensure for proper reporting and data integrity purposes, the contact individuals would be matrixed into this functional role.

Create a control/risk business comparative dashboard showing all key indicators, metrics and material issues for businesses in Treasury Services Depositary Receipts. Update empirical data and assessment information to refresh our control/risk dashboard on a consistent basis. Present to sector and business management the overall results of the Control/Risk dashboard; escalate material issues as appropriate.

Provide general guidance and direction to address negative variances and material issues identified in a business. Includes consulting and assisting with certain project management efforts for strategic control and risk based initiatives.

Liaise with Audit, Compliance, Risk and Legal on critical issues, reviews and deliverables.

Coordinate and liaise with Control and sector Tax/KYC Utility management to prioritize issues, focus resources and identify synergies.

Oversee control and risk staff within the business unit including people management activities - reviewing overall staffing needs, working with Managers to review staff performance, attendance, training and administering any corrective action as necessary.

Prepare and deliver training on control and risk based activities as required.

Complete special projects as required.

Qualifications

Role requires 8-12 years of diverse financial services experience. BA in Finance/ Acctg preferred. Ability to analyze business functions, create and use metrics/indicators to provide effective status reports and to help define solutions (if applicable). Proficient in quickly gaining an understanding of products, services and processes. Excellent communication skills (oral and written). Strong presentation skills (content and execution). Experience interacting with senior management, line management and staff functions. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to function in a collaborative environment . Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. Must be able to adapt to a changing environment. Candidate must have solid people management skills to support performance management planning, coaching and execution as well as recognize, motivate and retain team members.
