Senior Credit Portfolio Manager Broker Dealers Hedge Funds

This is a senior credit position with responsibility for approval and overall credit risk management of the Broker Dealers and Hedge Fund portfolios within BNYM.. This position falls within Global Financial Services Credit. This person will need to interact with clients, internal management and regulators so strong communication skills are preferred.

The CPM is responsible for executing the credit strategy for specific institutional credit portfolios. The CPM is ultimately responsible for the credit quality of the portfolios, review and approval of credit requests and accurate and timely ratings incorporating market based monitoring. The CPM will have Level 1 credit authority*. The incumbent and his/her team will coordinate the BNY Mellon effort to ensure that the risk/reward balance is consistent with the company's strategy and is responsive to the client. The CPM manages, motivates and develops a team of professionals that include Lenders, Analysts and Portfolio Administrators to achieve the above objectives. The position requires strong and decisive credit judgment based in part on insightful incorporation of market based tools/resources. The CPM facilitates the setting/recommendation of optimal customer credit exposure targets for approval based on collaborative interaction with the customer, CRL, CE, and BNY Mellon product areas. The CPM is responsible for the timely and accurate rating of each borrower in the portfolio and must promptly escalate deteriorating credit situations. The CPM is expected to work closely with his/her counterparts in market risk, global markets counterparty risk, Operational Credit Risk and the relevant line of business (LOB) Chief Risk Officers (CRO's) to ensure that all client related risks are understood and that the relevant risk groups are apprised of relevant risk issues as they arise. (*Note: This is the first of four levels of credit approval. The Credit Risk Group Head is the 2nd level. The EVP/Chief Credit Officer is the 3rd level. The SEVP/Chief Risk Officer is the 4th level of approval.) Superior knowledge of the lines of business for which they are responsible. Intimate knowledge of the assigned credit portfolios, and the risks inherent in these businesses. Current knowledge of the assigned industry and competitor landscapes. Deep and broad understanding of credit risk management.

Qualifications

At least 10 years of relevant (corporate banking, international, financial institutions), risk management, and lending experience The position requires strong and decisive credit judgment based in part on insightful incorporation of market based tools/resources. Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred.
