The Firmware Engineering Manager will manage and coordinate the projects and activities of a team of firmware engineers to design, develop and test firmware that runs on Crestron’s hardware platforms. Duties will also include definition of the design methods used and the overall platform development.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
. Direct the activities of firmware engineering group in the design, development, testing and ongoing maintenance of Crestron products using industry best practices. Continually looks for ways of improving development processes and delivery timelines.
. Perform project management activities for responsible products including project scheduling, ongoing project tracking, cross-functional issue resolution and regular project status reporting.
. Work with Engineering Management teams to define new products and ensure engineering feasibility. Create project plans to implement new firmware in products.
. Work with technical support to resolve problems in the field with existing products firmware.
. Provides technical leadership to assigned product families to ensure architectural and design correctness.
. Hire, motivate and manage a cohesive development team of firmware engineers to establish and meet aggressive project commitments and timeline deliverables.
. Performs regular performance reviews of direct reports and project leads and provide ongoing career mentoring and guidance and development.
Internally, Crestron products will employ a wide range of microprocessors, implementing 8-bit to 32 bit bus widths and controlling a variety of peripheral devices, including network interfaces, USB, video processors, and storage sub systems.
As a Firmware Manager you may will be required to write software in C++ ( C programmers with a high level of management experience will also be considered) that runs in a real time environment. In some cases custom real time control loop will be used in other cases commercial real time operating systems like Windows CE and Linux will be employed. Firmware code is closely tied to the design of the underlying hardware components.
