Sr. HR Generalist

Sr. HR Generalist - Direct Hire - Madison, WI

 

We have an exciting direct-hire opportunity for a Sr. Human Resources Generalist to join our Madison, WI manufacturing client.  As the Sr. HR Generalist you will report to the Sr. Director of Human Resources performing complex project tasks and a full range of advanced support pertaining to labor and employee relations. Appropriate candidates must have demonstrated ability to compile spreadsheets and reports detailing metrics for use by business clients as necessary.  You will work collaboratively across HR shared services and will partner with union stewards, and union business representatives to create an environment of trust and inclusion.  Must have experience in a unionized, manufacturing environment.

 

Job Duties:

 

·         Provides administrative and technical support to management and plant personnel on labor relations functions, including assisting with grievances and jurisdictional disputes.

·         Participates as needed in union contract negotiations, attends pre-job and other client meetings, and ensures job site rules are established, communicated and followed.

·         Provides guidance and support to managers in their recruitment within unionized environment.  Defines recommends and implements targeted recruiting strategies. Assists with the definition of selection criteria and may write job descriptions, job postings and advertisements.

·         Assists in preparation of weekly, quarterly and annual reports as assigned by Sr. Director, Human Resources.  Provides analytical and quantitative support surrounding HR Metrics.

·         Understands, interprets and ensures compliance with all collective bargaining agreements; organizes and maintains agreements.

·         Provide guidance to managers in regards to salary administration, including implementing the Company's salary administration guidelines, advising managers in hiring/promotion decisions, and with distribution of the merit budget.

·         Duties may also include prep work for contract negotiation, community activity coordination and leading and participating on assigned project teams, and other duties as assigned.

·         Must be able to work overtime and travel 5-10%.

 

Required Experience

 

·         Bachelor's degree desired (preferably in Human Resources) or equivalent work experience in Human Resources.

·         5 + years of prior Human Resource generalist work experience

·         Experience in a Unionized manufacturing environment

 

Required Skills

 

·         Union experience including prep work for negotiation of contracts within manufacturing facilities

·         Solid knowledge of basic Human Resources laws and regulations

·         Business analyst skill-set

·         Strong knowledge and understanding of employment laws and regulations

·         Strong communication, presentation and organizational skills required

·         Ability to handle conflict and perform comfortably in changing, fast-paced environment

·         Ability to coordinate multiple tasks to meet deadlines

·         Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel (pivot tables), PowerPoint and HRIS systems.
