We are currently seeking a Sr. Internet Engineer for SharePoint and Windows application related work. Candidate must have least 3 years experience working with SharePoint. SharePoint administration/engineering experience is required. The Sr. Internet Engineer delivers specialized engineering and technical support for MetLife's portfolio of applications. This person MUST be highly skilled in design of infrastructure and troubleshooting web based applications that run on the Windows operating system. In addition, the candidate must be Microsoft certified or have equivalent experience. This is an engineering/support position NOT an entry-level or application developer position.
Summary of Responsibilities include:
- Application infrastructure design and configuration related to windows based applications.
- Application configuration, Level-3 problem resolution, and customer support. Ideal candidate possesses solid understanding of www technologies/protocols, Web Services, web app servers, load balancing.
-Partner with technical experts in: Application Development, DBA, Networking, Engineering, Mainframe, and vendors such as IBM, Microsoft, etc. Execute a set of services that meets or exceeds service level agreements and is specialized for a certain MetLife Line of Business.
-Business focus of this position mandates the drive towards learning detailed technical and business functions of the applications suite used to support the business. Further, this position is responsible for driving continuous improvement by proactively responding to problems and developing and implementing projects for future prevention.
Principal Responsibilities include:
1. SharePoint administration, infrastructure design/engineering, and architecture.
2. Knowledge of various SharePoint components and 3rd party tools.
3. Server build out and configuration of farms
4. Some SharePoint development experience (is a plus)
5. Work in a team environment, supporting over 100 MetLife applications that reside in the Windows environments.
6. Server configuration, deployment and troubleshooting of applications on over 300 servers.
7. Engineering - Design of infrastructure and provide solutions for technical application issues.
8. Problem Resolution/Availability Management - Direct the immediate resolution of problems for applications to meet SLAs and customer expectations.
9. Thin-Client Infrastructure implementations and configurations - Drive the consistent and quality implementation of new and existing application infrastructure according to engineering design.
10. Proactive Health Monitoring - Drive the development and use of monitoring information to maintain service levels and prevent problems before they occur.
11. Insure preparedness for Problems and Disasters.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:
- SharePoint knowledge using Kerberos, Excel services, Performance point, InfoPath, Claims Based Authentication and SSRS
- SharePoint 2007 experience (minimum 3 years)
- SharePoint 2010 experience

- Web Site Application Software: Microsoft .NET, SharePoint
- Web Site Software: IIS 5, 6 7, Proxy servers, Apache
- Web Site programming/scripting language knowledge a plus: ASPX, C#, XML, VB .NET, Powershell
- Database knowledge Microsoft SQL Server (is a plus)
- Server performance knowledge
- Microsoft certified or relevant experience
- Troubleshooting, problem solving and use of debugging tools and techniques
For each supported web site this responsibility includes:
- Design and implementation of web based infrastructure
- Environmental Management
- Preparation and practice of the Restoration of Service process
- Full training of Level 2 support technicians
- Deployment support
- Approval practice of back up and recovery plans
- Approval practice of device and site fail over plans
- Review of Run Book completeness
- Build and maintenance of the applications QA, Production, and DR environments
- Web Technology installations and configurations in QA/Staging, Production DR environments
- Construction of the Restoration of Service documentation
- Development and Deployment of key operational tools and scripts
- Develop procedures and processes to efficiently execute with Level 2 support technicians
- Escalation support for pervasive problems (Stability, Performance, Outage trends)
- Coordinate and drive vendors issue resolution; this involves bringing multiple vendors to the table to get to root cause issues and take corrective action
- Root cause analysis on every web site problem and implementation of preventive measures to eliminate future occurrences
- Provide accurate and timely problem/outage reporting both to customers and executive management
