Sr. .Net/ Database Developer w/ strong T-SQL ( SQL Server w/ Batch Processing) - 2 positions

Contract Duration – 6 months thru year end

Summary Description:             

This is an upgrade project.  We use Portia a 3rd party application which currently runes on Sybase, currently being upgraded to SQL 2008.  For this, we need 2 individuals to help us with the batch processing.  Large scale development or implementation project experience is required, along with strong analytical skills as well.  The person must be willing to work with the batch architecture components that we have in place, using them as tools to accomplish individual tasks within our process flow.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

·         Complete all tasks related to technical analysis, building and unit testing, quality assurance, system test and implementation in accordance with the IT development life cycle. Use existing batch architecture tools to complete development tasks required for batch processing on a critical portfolio accounting system

·         Analyze requirements, design, build and test system components or amendments.

·         Conform to documentation, coding and quality standards as defined.

·         Review, discuss and work within agreed timescales and feedback to project managers any variances arising as tasks are performed.

·         Gain understanding of client business and make recommendations and technology suggestions to solve problems and improve efficiency.

·         Analyze architecture of applications in order to effectively troubleshoot problems and develop more efficient production processes.

·         Carry out business analysis tasks to ensure that the development/change meets user requirements and expectations. 

·         Prepare for and support user acceptance testing.

·         Perform quality assurance tests on the work of other developers.

·         Prepare all necessary documentation and processes to enable ongoing support of the systems.

·         Communicate with internal and external customers, supervisors and management using clear, user-friendly terminology (emails, phone, meetings).

·         Assist project and line managers in producing estimates for the development phase of projects and enhancements.

.NET/ T-SQL Skills Required:

·         Must have batch processing experience.  Windows batch preferable over Unix; Autosys use desirable.

·         Must have SQL Server stored procedure development experience. SQL Server 2008 experience preferable, 2005 experience acceptable.

·         PORTIA experience very desirable.

·         Large-scale integration project design, development and implementation work desirable, particularly with third-party applications.

·         .NET development experience desirable for long-term “to hire” consideration.

·         Informatica experience nice to have.

Other Strengths

·         Production support experience is a plus.

Experience Required:

·         Minimum of 3 years of proven systems development experience using structured methods

·         Formal training in systems analysis and computer programming

·         Understanding of relational database design and development life cycle principles

·         Solid experience of working in project teams

·         Desire to stay abreast of new development tools and methods

Education/ Industry Experience

·         Bachelor s Degree (preferably BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering)  Computer Science is preferred or commensurate relevant work experience

·         Good communication skills both oral and written, self-starter and able to follow guidelines and adhere to standards.
