Sr. Operations Analyst
Job Responsibilities:
Controls:
Work locally as part of the Global Operations Team in Asia to maintain, monitor, and report on key operational controls, including but not limited to:
- Documenting controls and processes
- Implementing checks and reconciliations
- Related reporting of metrics on business activity conducted in Asia
- Monitoring of policies in any areas which impact operations
- Trade lifecycle control support including:
- Monitoring of timely trade booking
- Monitoring of deal amendments
- Ensuring accurate curve management pricing
- Implementation integration of new products
- New counterparty set up
- New broker set up
- Contract compliance (including verification of Mandarin contracts in accordance with approved legal templates)
- Invoicing and settlements
- Establish and monitor necessary exchange clearing reconciliation
- Ensure accuracy of information necessary for downstream reporting
Daily Operations:
Take responsibility for key operational functions as directed by management and in coordination with the global operations team. Use the existing global functions (located in other regions) to ensure full timely coverage for China:
- PNL
- Exchange clearing
- Trade Operations
- Invoicing
- Confirmations
- Inventory reconciliation
- Settlement AP/AR monitoring
- Necessary daily monthly reconciliations
- Cross-Functional coordination with Accounting, Treasury, Legal, Risk
Communication:
- Provide timely communication regarding new and existing business to the operational management team based on availability, urgency, timeliness and severity.
- Be pro-active in providing information to operation’s colleagues and participate in meetings as requested to support coordination with the other global functions.
Education:
- Bachelor Degree in any relevant discipline such as Economics, Computer Science, Operations Management, Finance, or Accounting
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in operations or business analysis with experience in ETRM systems
- Exposure to commodities and experience in the physical commodity merchant industry is strongly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Licenses:
- Mandarin native speaker with effective English verbal and written skills
- Familiar with physical and/or financial commodity transaction life cycle execution, trading, position P/L management
- Operations experience with emphasis on maintenance of a control framework
- Independent and mature work style with the confidence to work without local support and to report to a remote manager when required
- Excellent verbal and written (bi-lingual) communication, analytical and problem solving skills
- Matlab experience preferred
- Economics/Computer Science degree is preferred Solid MS Office Suite skills, especially Excel (VBA), Project and Visio
- An understanding of China domestic commodity markets is preferred
- Commodity (Energy preferred) market experience is preferred
- Management of multiple small concurrent projects
- Technical knowledge highly desirable (e.g. ability to query databases using GUI tools)
- Fast learner and ability to be part of a global team working within an energetic and dynamic environment
- Ability to interact with all levels of management
