Location: This position is located in Kearny Mesa, area of San Diego CA. Hours: 8-hour shift: M-F 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Qualifications: Bachelor of Science required; in a h ealthcare related field preferred. Certification in Professional Healthcare Risk Management preferred. Minimum ten (10) years of experience in healthcare risk management and physician professional liability claims required. Ability to communicate in a clear and persuasive manner with management/administration, physicians, other disciplines, patients/families. Thorough knowledge of CA statutes relating to medical negligence cases. Ability to problem solve and find creative solutions in difficult situations. Knowledge of interpersonal processes and interpersonal communication. Ability to establish cooperative relationships, excellent written and verbal skills. Summary: The analyst is responsible for assessing, evaluating and resolving all potential and litigated professional liability claims relating to Sharp Rees-Stealy physicians and/or the medical group. The position works in conjunction with the Manager of Claims/Insurance and the Clinical Operations Legal Affairs team to investigate potential claims, manage risk, and prevent loss. Close collaboration with Quality, Regulatory Affairs, System Safety staff to promote compliance with the Patient Safety Plan is also critical. The position will require ability to analyze activity and information that will minimize the risk environment in the organization. The Legal Affairs Department provides and coordinates legal, risk management and insurance services throughout Sharp HealthCare. Legal services include corporate governance, litigation, business transactions, clinical, regulatory and labor management. In addition to these more traditional legal services, the department provides proactive legal education in both the clinical and business areas. The Insurance and Claims division administers Sharp HealthCare's self-insurance program and coordinates and manages Sharp's various insurance coverage's. In addition, this division provides general and professional liability claims management services. Sharp System Services have campuses located in the communities of Kearny Mesa and Serra Mesa and consist of the Spectrum location, the Ruffin Road location and Sharp Operations Center (SOC). These offices provide the centralized integrated system support services to the operating entities within the system. These services include: Strategic Planning, Business Development, Information Technology, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Risk Management and Insurance, Contracts, Human Resources, Facilities Management and Development, Clinical Effectiveness, Finance, Nursing, Systems Supply Chain Services, Marketing and Communications, The Sharp Experience and Sharp University Essential Physical Requirements may include: Able to sit for a period of 6-8 hours per day; proper telephone etiquette; able to drive to various facilities and affiliated organizations; lifting of files and/or equipment of twenty (20) pounds or less; able to use computer up to 4 hours per day.
